School in Tobago

Hi

I am looking to move to Trinidad and Tobago with my wife and two sons, 17 years old and 5 months old. I looks like we are not going to get into our first choice school in Port of Spain so we are looking for a good school to attend in Tobago. My son is looking to complete his final year of high school.

We have lived in Belize for 2 years so would like to continue in the CARICOM curriculum for his final year.

Thanks

Pete Wood

If you're working in Trinidad it will not be practical for your son to go to school in Tobago ... it is a separate island.

That's OK. We are able to live on either island and Tobago seems better for beaches. Just need to find a school.

I have an American friend (married to a Trini) who moved to Tobago and will ask her, although their kids are little. Yes the beaches are better in Tobago but it is small, and quiet...maybe you should check out both places before making a decision. The flight is only 15-20 mins from Trinidad and only costs $50 US so it is easy to hop over once a month or so.

This is what she said: Bishops is the best secondary school in Tobago. There are no private secondary schools on the island (just primary schools). It is a good school and the one that all expats go to. But since it is public it isn't quite the same as a solely private school.

Hello,

If you have decided to stay in Trinidad I can suggest St. Augustine Community College which is a privately run secondary school close to the University.

The teachers are good and the classrooms are all Air-conditioned. The school has cameras which are monitored by the general office staff and supervision is great. Tuition Cost is around 750 USD per Term.

For 6th Form (pre-university) there is the UWI pre-university center which is also close by. This is a private secondary school for 6th Form students which is run by the University itself. Cost is around 2000 USD per year.
