I am a single man living and working in the US as an EMT now. I am in love with the country of T&T and wish to move there. I have no idea how to go about this. I have skills in other fields too. I'm not one of these oil workers or professionals that have everything lined up.

How did you form this opinion of T&T, is it from a visit or from what you read? If the latter, I strongly urge you to visit for two weeks and see how things actually are. Try to talk to some EMTs to get a feel for conditions.

I visited for a month last year and fell for it. The food, the environment, a lot of factors. I'm just trying to figure if it is feasible idea.

If you haven't done so yet, read the "10 Tips For Living In T&T" in the column at the left. And especially the subtopic, "Health Care in T&T"

Never in a million years would I want to deal with that place again.
But, to each his/her own.
Good luck getting any cooperation from any government agency with your request. Unless you know someone, getting anything done is almost impossible. Just getting a drivers licence took me months of frustration, getting cable TV turned on took 3 months.
It is a very different view when you are a foreign visitor, than actually trying to live there.
My only advice would be to contact potential employers, if you get someone interested they would be your best advocate in the process. Most of the businesses are very familiar as the local labor force there is almost worthless.

You will need to check out the Immigration department on line or contact the embassy of t&t closest to where you live. Do you have family that are Trinidad citizens? I believe the process will be challenging if you have no relatives or official contacts. Start your research on line and by phone first.

Good Day,
Your best approach is to find an employer who is willing to sponsor your work permit.
Generally speaking, salaries paid by local Trinidadian companies in the Non Energy Sector hover around 33% of equivalent salaries in the usa.
Expats are only allowed to work for 1 month without a work permit. Hope that helps. Good Luck.
