" Hello- Can anyone out there give some advice about banking in Turkey, especially in light of the current economic crisis? I''ll be in Istanbul by September 2001, but will be simultaneously maintaining a translation business here in Vienna, Austria, where I''m currently living. Basically, I''m wondering if it is expensive and/or secure to do electronic transfers, and if it is possible to deposit personal checks from American or European accounts. Or is it better simply to rely on ATM cards/Bankomats for access to accounts outside Turkey?? I''d appreciate any info about banks and banking besides what I''ve specifically asked. Thanks in advance!! Maureen "
