I live in Ukraine, Kharkov. If you have some questions about Ukraine I can help you with answers :-)
There is no problem to come here. But you should be ready for some "underwater rocks"!
If someone interested you are welcome!!

Hello. I have a couple quick questions. I am in the process of moving to Kiev. I am american but well travelled in Europe. I have been to Ukraine 11 times in the 2 years and a half (cities of Kiev, Lugansk, Donetsk, Lviv, Sevestopol). I am still studying Russian but can definetely get by with no problems. I also know German, some french and of course English. You mentioned Underwater rocks and I am intrigued by what you meant by that. I am moving due to my work but do have a little wrinkle which is I have a wonderful girl in Lugansk as well whom I met a year and a half ago. Can you expound on the "underwater rocks"

How do you like living in Kiev? I am thinking about coming there to learn Russian and to maybe meet some of the Ukrainian women I have heard about.

Dear Acid rain, I'm planning to move to Kharkov from America and would appreciate knowing what you mean when you say there are some submerged rocks to watch out for? --TrueCat

Guys, the under water rocks is simply a metaphor that everything is not going to be as cushy and predictable as what you're used to!

Hi AcidRain,

I'm thinking of moving to Ukraine, hopefully Kharkov, in September. I'm a horrible pack rat (I love to carry a lot of stuff with me.) Do you have any suggestions how I can ship some of my belongings to Ukraine? I've heard the postal service can be corrupt and steal items from packages.

Do you have a favorite taxi service you use? I'll look them up when I'm in town.

okay boys i been i kyiv for about 6 months now.
get ready for some major adjustments in your life.here in kyiv things work bit different than western countries.
one make sure if u are staying longer than 90 day have your visa reg with immigration here in kive and ask ur land lord to reg your name with local area boards.
with out this you can not even open a bank acct.
two about the girls be very carefullest they are hustlers
DO NOT FALL FOR WHAT THEY CALLED THE MIDDLE EASTERN TRICK.
which mean they say the love you and you are the man of there dreams blah blah blah...
any ways i am in us right now and going back in end feb if you have any question email me at mikeafshar2000@yahoo.com

That's true, mikeee.
One should be carefull in love matters)
Be prepared the law doesn't work here as in Western cultures. Find real friends to solve "questions"

Hi,
I am confused. I have been reading a lot about how nice Ukrainian women are, how they are family-oriented. Being from the US, it is extremely hard for me to imagine whether such traditional values still exist today anywhere. So, would you folks agree that the superior kindness and genuineness of Ukrainian women are pretty much a myth?

There is no particular schedule, they run practically every 15 min from different points in the city. The one that a friend of mine is using regularly runs from "Kharkivska" metro station, but I can check about other places in Kiev

It's not myth, they pretty much really are of superior kindness and genuineness. The problem, folks, that you are usually come to Ukraine expecting to meet not the most kind, but the most beautiful. And while Ukrainian girls are stunning indeed, usually the ones who are seeking the company of the wealthy foreigners are the ones who are looking either for big money or for the ticket out of Ukrainian province.
