Ukrainians may soon be able to travel anywhere in the EU sans visa. This is good news for UA citizens and expats who want to bring one on vacation. Definitely more convenient. And last minute trips are now possible.

Fine print: it still has to be signed by the muckity-mucks in charge but that is very likely a foregone conclusion in my opinion.

When it does happen, you'll see a mass exodus out of here that will rival moses leading the flock out of the desert for the promise land. There is a treasure of young talent here with no jobs that the EU countries will soak up like a sponge for cheap wages.

Actually there are alot of countries ukrainians can go visa free or visa on alrrival. Just not america or eu. Like egypt for instance. We go Friday and ukraine and US both get visa on arrival. Also, russians can go to Guam (US territory ) without a visa. But need a return ticket back to russia to be let past passport control and have to sign an affidavit that they will not leave guam and it's adjoining island for america proper.

If Visa free travel becomes reality....I agree 100% with Extreme !!! There will be a large number of young people leave Ukraine and never come back. So many young Ukraine people dream of living life in France or Germany. I have even heard the comment from the younger crowd while visiting Ukraine. They wished Germany had won WW2, so they would be living a different life today, like Germans Obviously, they were asleep in their history class when it came to Hitler's plan for Ukraine people during the war. With the EU in a bad situation with Syrian refugees today,....I would be shocked it visa free travel happens !!

@Extreme/NA, hopefully it will be an exodus of college educated upper middle class or higher males. I could use all the help I can get. haha

I was so ugly as a kid that my parents used to put a pork chop around my neck so the dog would play with me.

During sex, my girlfriend always wants to talk to me. Just The other night she called me from a hotel.

I told my psychiatrist that everyone hates me. He said I was being ridiculous - everyone hasn't met me yet.

haha

One of the first little cultural idiosycrasies you will discover in Ukraine is that humor does not translate well across cultures. If you tell a joke that an American would find hilarious, your audience will just look confused. I have the same response when one of them tells me a joke.

The Dutch just voted against it by a huge margin...Just saying... I understand there's a lot more to it and it is an ongoing process but as of now, the Europeans are not backing this referendum....

KK, I reread the article and it doesn't really say any EU nations are against visa free travel. It also says they're not going against the Dutch referendum, which was really about mass migration and not travel. But even if the Dutch voted against, it only needs a majority, not unanimous agreement.

A relevant quote:
"The proposal must be approved by a qualified majority of EU member states and by the European Parliament to take effect.

"The source says the Commission would include some form of safeguard enabling EU countries to reinstate visas temporarily in case of a surge of migration."

All in all I'd say it looks more likely than not. But I admit I'm no expert on EU politics.

@Russo, people tell me I have a very dry sense of humor. More like a British person than an American. Most people don't "get" my jokes at all, some might after they've known me for a few months. I claim innocence: my parents talked and acted far too English, despite the fact they were 3 generations removed from the Empire.

extreme: I could not resist a reply to your post about American humor. AS Benny Hill said "You're telling me!"
Long ago there was a guy named Johnny Carson on late night t.v., he told "stale jokes" : and they held up signs for the audience to laugh. I never watched it, but I go thru what you posted many days in my house. Yes Americans are FAT SLOBS in the eyes of the world, ruling the world with military dictating policy ,"God save us from Clinton!". Yesterday there was a story on Yahoo about a rich guy in Brit, pro Brexit. "Get rid of Brussels and Putin should run Europe, he gets the job done." You can look it up easily. Whatever one thinks of him, HE does NOT call "grand juries, or senate commities behind closed doors to hide things from the public." The IMF is a front for the U.S. everyone knows. I know one can't believe much on the big news agencies, they claim many people are NOT satisfied with the Kiev gov. It said the U.S. and IMF are stuck with the gov. for now. such is life in Ukraine unfortunately. On the flip side: I was looking @ Bulgarian properties near the Black Sea, the prices are reasonable, and there should NOT be so many problems. The story that prompted me was "affordable places for Americans to live". Hungary and Mississippi were in the 10 list.
Have a good day guys.
