I think her insight and opinion would be very valuable to anyone living in the states. Her knowledge of Ukraine and how things operate would be helpful also!

thumbs up from me Extreme: Let her know my wife who has been here 20 yrs would prefer to be "back in the USSR." 35 yrs ago she says she had the good life @ cafes in Moscow, no worries about money, apt provided for little money. As we all know MOST people in the U.S. are fearful for loss of employment and working 50 hr weeks. That is not only MY opinion, we read stories everyday online.

It's so funny. Ukrainian women really don't understand how.beautiful they are and that they are the gross national product of ukraine. For instance, I just had to explain to my wife why no american women come to ukraine. Olya asked why only men come here. I wad like, duh. Because an American women would see all the beautiful women here and want to tuck tail and run home. And if she was with her husband, she would see his tongue wagging. I so love ukraine women. My wife is so cute with her naïve understanding sometimes. It's great to be alive in ukraine.

I would welcome the viewpoint of a Ukrainian woman. But a word of caution....Just like the men on this forum, Ukrainian women are as different as the 137 different varieties of sausages you see in the meat market at Privoz. The opinion of one woman should not be taken as 'Gospel', because there will be another UKR woman that has a different opinion.

Yes I agree. Point well taken. More than anything she is just curious what all us americans men think of her country ans the women. But I still haven't decided yet if I think it's a good thing to have her on here. My wisdom tells me it may bite me in the a** later down the road.

Russ-- I totally agree with the sausage theme! I will say that in general-- women that reside in smaller cities, or even villages, are much less greedy, , are sweeter, more pure, THAN those from the larger cities. All know that there are more than ten thousand prostitutes working in Ukraine. My wife spent her first 47 years in a small city in Western Ukraine, close to Moldova. Kotovsk to be exact. around 40,000 population. I absolutely love the qualities that my Polina has. Conservative could be an oxymoron with her values. Polina is a total doer. Always ready to help in any situation, learns new skills so easily. I say IF possible--- try dating those women in the smaller cities-- They are not greedy-- much more likely to stay with you for the long haul . We are in Texas now-- close to San Antonio-- Tickets put me in Odessa on the 25th of this month. Will be great to be back home. One more thing about women there-- If all they want is your money, and exorbitant gifts--- BEWARE! Love to meet all of expatriots on here soon as possible. My home is in KHERSON-- population of about 400,000. One year younger than the USA! take care-- Bill

A week or so ago I had a girl approach me on the street. I was just walking, minding my own business as usual and she said (in seemingly perfect English), "Hey I know you, I saw you last night at the..." and my scam alert started blaring. I turned 45 degrees and kept on walking. She was too young and pretty to actually be interested in an old coot like me. ... But now I wonder how that conversation may have ended. Most likely with me bleeding in an alley somewhere sans wallet and sans dignity is my guess.
Maybe I should be more like Sir2You. Who knows, But I err on the side of "if it's too good to be true then it probably is." I guess that's the difference between us two, and one reason I'll be going to bed alone tonight. LOL

Smmoravec, that was addressed to me I guess. And... guilty as charged. Let's just say that I have learned from the school of hard knocks not to trust anyone.
The girl said, "I saw you last night" and I know nobody saw me last night or any night because I am always at home well before 5pm and don't go out, don't have any interest in the "night life" at all. There are a lot of reasons for all that but I won't bore you with the details.
That said, I did admit I should be more open to new experiences like Sir2You posted about. New experiences is one of the reasons I came here so I'm taking one small step just by being here. May there be many more to come.

I am not into the club scene either. I don't drink, don't smoke, don't do hookers. The only reason for me to go into a club is if they have a good live band.
But yeah, maybe she was just giving you a pickup line...no harm in taking her out to dinner.

i am new here, so pardon me if i am not following protocol.
as to your question about sharing the question with your Ukrainian wife... the questions below are a perfect example of the obvious benefit
the QUESTIONS i have are as follows:
i am planing to visit Ukraine next December, (4 to 5 weeks) initially, the plan is to land in Kiev, rent an apartment, and if possible, rent a car.. target cities to visit are: Kiev, (mainly) then Dnipro and Krivoy Rog.
initial research has discovered that... Dnipro may be under the threat of war, (but i have no idea to what extent. Krivoy Rog seems to be considered to be... "in the middle of nowhere" and based on the fact that the time of my travel is the start of winter... so i understand that winter weather is extreme in Ukraine.
to my credit, i lived many years in Montana (USA), so i am relatively well versed as far as dealing with -30 ºF degree weather plus (or rather minus) windchill factor...
i need to assess the risk of visiting both places... and whether it is wise to rent a car, or use trains (assuming they are available).
i know that the time to travel from Kiev to both places is roughly 5 plus hours (Dnipro probably more like 6)
and... i do not speak a word of Russian or Ukrainian... i am fluent in Spanish and English. i do NOT need a visa to Ukraine since i hold a Spanish passport.
looking forward to your replies. thank you.

You will love it! My biggest problem with winter in the cities is the ice. They don't salt the streets or sidewalks like we do in the U.S. so they because very slick. Make sure you have good traction winter shoes, as I am sure you do.
Dnepro is nice, Odessa is great and out of the "war zone". Not really sure Dnepro is considered under threat of war. I have friends that travel there often and never said anything about it.,
Enjoy your trip!

Hi there Mr Vagabundo. Well you being from Montana, you could do your trip driving, renting a car I'm sure. But, I would not.. Plus expect to pay about $1000 for a 4wd for a month, possibly more but not less.I have lived here in Odesa for 10 yr's now and have travelled by most all means extensively. The problem would not be you, or necessarily the road conditions, although there will be snow and black ice as Scott said. The danger is the Ukrainian drivers. They are close to the worst in the world ! You would actually have a higher chance of getting seriously wounded or killed driving around in Ukraine in the winter for 4-5 weeks in your rental car than you would in the war zone ! And that's a fact...As far as those two region's are concerned neither one is really in the war zone...And nowadays that area has concentrated. Plus there is really nothing to see there anyway..And Kiev at that time of the year will be terrible driving and super high stress. To many people that do not know the rules is why. My wife is one of them ! Not worth it, public transport is very suitable in Kiev with a subway system etc.. Traveling to other cities by either "mini bus, 6-10 people" city to city is one option then taking the local taxis or buses or trains within the city is what I would do if I were going, and I have a 4 wheel drive ! And then, there are the trains. Well don't expect any high speed Euro Rail zooming ya to and from ! Expect to be awake the entire time and they do leave from one city to the next around 10 pm. I did do a 1000 mile trip over about 10 days on these so called trains. There are a few that go from Kiev to Poland and then high speed from there but within Ukraine, no.The sleeping quarters on these trains are interesting. There are 4 beds in a room approx. 7'x12', bunks..So maybe you'll get lucky and they'll pair ya with 3 pretty girls which is entirely possible, but then again, maybe not..You can however buy all 4 beds and have the room to yourself. Pretty cold though but the bar car is open, smoking, drinking and screaming allowed...I have to say Mr Vagabundo your timing is impeccable !! I don't know what your into, but Kiev would be the only city I would visit in Ukraine in the winter. They just don't have much to do. You could arrange a fishing trip, down one of the rivers, or a skiing trip about 300 miles away from Kiev, but again, there just not equipped for much here except in Kiev..Nothing even close to even Helena..( My bro live's there ). My city Odesa has some interesting architecture and a few other things, but the other things come out in the summer ! I would save Odesa for the summer..Having been to Krakow, Warsaw, Prague and most other nice city's around eastern Europe, that Euro Rail system would work quite nice !! We drove Europe a few times but not in the winter. So check out this site "seat61.com" and you could put together an amazing trip including Kiev and/or anywhere else you wanted to go around these parts of the world..Hope I was able to help you and your direction of a trip...Ken

Topic: Question from Vagabond I came here five years ago, during the World Football game in Kiev. So I into Odessa instead. Stuck there several days. Now I know. If taking bus, get on it and pay the driver. I went to ticket office and they refused to sell me tickets! Everyone here considers foreigners, especially Americans, fair game for fleecing. Scams and lies, always. If you catch them, they say 'It was only a joke!' just like the Bible says. There are two prices usually; Ukrainians, and twice that or more for YOU. Learn some Russian online. If driving, you have a huge target on you that says 'I'm rich, pull me over and collect big bribe!'. I have Porsche in Calif that I want to bring here, but my woman drive, not me. I also wear mostly clothes I got here. When in Ukraine, do as they do. But I still like zippers on pants, and nobody can tell, anyways. I got some cleats, that people are in awe of, but I have to have as I have poor balance on ice. When I came, 6 hgr to dollar. I could do alright. Now it is 26, fantastic. Not hgr falling, mind you, but dollar soaring because of the housing crisis, and 70 T in dollars of bank counterfeit money evaporating. DEflation. World nightmare problems, and US is bad but least bad. Plenty of ATMs to take money from Visa or MC, they exchange at YOUR bank, not Ukraines. You can also take out dollars, but they are printed by the Fed and they mark th as counterfeit. You can not use them in US. I think they should be charged under RICO Act for counterfeiting and all assets seized. Won't happen, they (intl banksters) own US govt. Ukraine is not as sophisticated in their corruption, and they have amazing liberty here. Beware any 'friend' offering to protect you from all the thieves, they only want it all for themselves. Assume everyone is lying in regards to your money.

To Michael, I can't believe I am answering one of your comments, but here goes. It is normal here to work 12 hour days, two days on, two days off. That is 180 hrs a . Or 45 hrs a week. But it also comes with 'benefits' like eating all you want if you work in food service, and having virtual sex with whoever you can seduce, and nobody stops you. I mean like, sitting on his lap and running hands in pants or on breasts, making out, just getting her wet for after work. Different way of thinking.

All those considering coming here, you should know; as American you are only allowed three months. I have been here five years. I told them, I am not working but only spending. Told just do not leave or you can't return for three months. And, I am supposed to pay a fine when I leave. Not much. I live across small river from Moldova, never been there. Three months...

My rent overlooking a nice plaza, 2nd story, is $40 a month, $20 for utilities. Taxi to other side of town is $2, and $3. to bus station. Raw milk is less than $1 per 'quart'. Dinner with grass fed beef and a plate of mashed potatoes, and a greek salad is $6, oh, and a glass of red wine. I take half home and eat another meal. Borsht and bread, and coffee, is $2. I only wish I had a wife. I had girlfriend last week, she was drunk I took home and she passed

I was having a dark beer tonight in a cafe across the street. Great music, but two different groups were watching tv or videos and loudly. People in this small town have zero consideration or manners. Dogs run wild, in packs. Nobody stops them. They go int0 businesses, and often are ignored, tho sometimes are run out. There are NO traffic lights in town, and people park two or three feet from the curb. Sometimes facing wrong way. Liberty! They do what they want, when they want. Build what they want the way they want. If it all collapses, their problem. Someone buys it and it collapses, buyers problem. Liberty. No income tax. I have coffee every morning in nicest cafe in town. Owned by the mayor. I am told he is a major drug lord, and runs drugs from Moldova, across the river. He owns a tile company, and this town is now spending lots on tiling parks, and sidewalks. He profits? Coincidence. But he is a nice guy. I was robbed here of over $2k, and if I want, I could have the guy repay and have him hurt or killed. Not the way I do things. Why? Not so sure sometimes.

To Vagabundo,
Your plan, as stated, is so full of holes that I don't know whether to laugh or cry. You need to do more homework. The first thing you need to do is get an account on VK.com and make some friends in the cities you want to visit that will help you and protect you. Join the group called 'It Sounds Better in English'. You will find many English speakers there. A major part of the economy here is kept afloat by the foreign currency skimmed off the naive foreign tourists by a well-developed scamming industry.
The best time to visit Ukraine is April to October. You would be foolish to drive a car. The public transportation system is very good here in the sense that you can find some form of conveyance that will get you anywhere you want to go, but you need someone to help you buy tickets. It is not a simple process.
In my opinion, the only cities worth visiting are Kiev, Odessa and Lviv. The others are just gritty little towns with not much to offer. An exception is Mariupol, which I think is the prettiest city in Ukraine, but it is on the edge of the war zone now. Good Luck!

however, in the long run, this i the best it could have happen for the USA.... (imo) in the end the dollar will get stronger.... and all the expats (in most countries) will be immensely benefited....

appreciate your comment.... as i was mentioning at the start... i hold a Spanish passport (which allows me non-visa and right to stay in all EU countries)... as for Ukraine, because of such passport, i do not need a visa... i also know that the authorities are trying to get some sort of deal with the EU (in order to obtain recognition and reciprocity with the EU countries) in terms of visa free status... therefore... in my instance, i may have some sort of leeway... i really do not know... in any event... unless i were to find something extraordinary to hold me in the Ukraine... i am going there for a short time as an exploratory trip

He also told me there's no guarantee that he will approve my visa application and my 157$ fee is non refundable....I told him that I didn't catch his name and he just said 'no further discussion'......wow! Ukraine will always be Ukraine. Some things are great, some things are a pain in the butt. Legal matters and document process is a nightmare. Just pay the bribe your better off. Visa free travel, Kiev wishes but I doubt it. The EU is already drowning in refugees. If Ukraine was given Visa free travel by the EU, nearly every Ukraine person 18-28 would leave and not come back. Millions of fat older ugly ladies in France and Germany would be kicked out of their homes. And, the hottest Ukraine nannies and house keepers you ever seen would take all their places.
The best Ukraine has would be gone to never come back to that life style. Kiev had better keep this in mind!!! Just my opinion !!

NA67, you nailed it! Every young person I know here in Ukraine is looking for a way out. When the EU offered Ukraine visa-free travel, they weren't thinking it through very well.
There is a tremendous shortage of men in Ukraine. If you paired up all the marriageable men aged 18-64 with all the marriageable women of the same age, there would be 1.3 million women left over without a chance for a husband. If that 1.3 million women all moved to Europe, then the balance would be restored. But then, what would all the married men here do for mistresses?

Every single lady I know in Ukraine, family or just a friend. Ages 18-40 want me to hook them up with an American friend or co-worker of mine.
Visa free travel would clean Ukraine out of its youth. Kiev should learn from what happened in Maldova when they got visa free travel. Hundreds of thousands never came back after leaving!!! This is a fact not opinion.

I have been dating Ukrainian women for the last three years. I have made numerous trips to meet and spend with them. The last two were recommended by a Ukrainian friend of mine. All of them have turned out to be money grubbers or not serious about a relationship. None of them were willing to give up family and friends to move to the U.S.
That is my experience, take it for what it's worth.

Smmoravec, I can for sure believe your post. My best friend at work has traveled to Ukraine 7 times and Moldova once. He has had no success. Many of his trips were great for him while he was in country spending money on these ladies, shopping, gifts, eating out. Days after coming home, they show no more interest. Communication just stops!!! I think many scam old lonely western men for gifts, money and a good time. Many I think have no interest of leaving, and just play people. But, I do believe there are ladies in Ukraine, Moldova, and Belarus that would jump at a chance to move to USA, Canada, Europe or Australia. Even if this means scamming a kind generous man. Or even actually having feeling for him. I personally know good ladies in Ukraine. But, the trick, the Million dollar question, how does a man from the USA or any Western country separate the good from the bad. Especially if they don't live first hand in Ukraine. Have a normal long term relationship with the lady. All contact with these ladies are over Skype, email, or a dating web site. This process is damn risky at best. Each man must have open eyes and an open mind when playing this dangerous game. It's had not to laugh, or feel sad at some of the crap one reads on some of these web site posts. Every fool thinks his lady is true and honest, "no way is she playing me". But unfortunately, more are scammed than are successful. I bet money on this.....risk vs reward!!!

Another intelligent post NA..About these women going to the states. 50 percent will go, but 40 percent will return..Thats normal, who would want to be 7000 miles away from their family and friends and traditions..My wife never did want to move there, but in my case I wanted to leave there, so my story is different. And, ya, I could have convinced her, but she would have been part of the stats' that go back..I think all countrys are close to the same. If the couple are a team, they will live wherever. I cant say Ukrainian girls are good at being a teammate. There feelings are pretty much whats mine is mine and whats yours is yours..And during the relationship when acquiring things, they pay attention into whose name it goes into. Again, that Soviet mentality comes into play and who could blame them. They haven't had a whole lot so when an opportunity arises they try and take advantage..So, if you have some money, ya they will try andget you to buy them things because this is what they mean by a better life. Having nicer material things. Very little to do with love.. That grows.. And it takes 4 years to really know a person anyway. And the mentality of the men is the first 50 grand they ever make in their life is to be spent on a car to show there friends..Image is huge here. In this part of the world it is "everything" and that includes your image.. Her appearance is as best as it can be already, but yours is 50 percent of her thinking. She doesn't want people to look down upon her, especially her friends and family, and think why are you with that distasteful looking person ! So Nate and the rest of you, I'm not really on-board with you on the scamming thing.. You asked for a date or two, or three, and it didn't work out, so she doesn't contact you anymore. So then the westerners immediately label them as scammers, when in fact you were the one who bought her things !! She just shut you down so your pissed or whatever you want to call it but you have labeled her a scammer.. I'm not in..I've taken many many girls to very expensive places and the relationship didn't work, be it my choice, both of ours, or hers but that sure as hell don't make them a scammer.. Maybe it is I who is the scammer because I only want to test out there body before I test out their mind !!

Anyone here........ I want to ask a serious question relating to Ukraine ladies/dating sights. If so many ladies don't want to move thousands of miles away from their country, family and friends, and traditions. Why are hundreds of thousands of them on International dating sights acting as if they want to meet International men. Why do they write letters and video chat for 6-12 months with western men, asking the men to come and visit them. While the guy spends 4K plus to come and visit the lady, many do ask to eat at expensive restraunts, travel, and shop at malls they normally never visit. Is this scamming? It is at the very least deception, I would think!!
I think a lot of guys who travel to Ukraine to meet a lady they just spent months speaking with are angry. when the second they leave, everything goes to crap! What changed for them with their lady friend? What justifies the cold shoulder after months of time and money spent. It is not cheap to travel Internationally.
I have friends who have traveled to Ukraine and visited with ladies they wrote and chatted with for many months. Yes they spent money to entertain the lady. The lady asked them to come to Ukraine and visit everytime. Stories that started so great, to many times end so badly. I know these guys, they are not on a sex tour. They are always kind and honest and serious with their lady friends. It is really hard not to believe their is purposeful deception on the ladies side here to often!!
If the ladies really don't want to leave the country, stay of the International dating web sites..........

Marriage agencies recruit women. I know this because I have a good friend which actually does this for a living. The agency fronts the money for the registration fees and photo sessions. Then they require the woman to chat with men long enough to recuperate their costs.
My friends agency gets paid a percentage of the money a man spends, whether it is chat, letters, video chat, gifts, or date arrangements and interpretation needs. Typically an interpreter pays half of what you give her to the agency.
My friends agency gives their girls gifts as incentives, usually gift cards to salons or clothing stores. Other agencies are less scrupulous. One woman I dated said she got paid a percentage of what a man spent some in her based on the popularity of her profile. Remember, these are the agencies doing this, not the websites. The websites simply pay the agencies, not the girls directly.
Anastasiadate and dream-marriage.com both have automated tools the girls can choose to use. The first are the chat invites. The girl selects a pre-written message or can write her own. These chat invites then get sent to all men currently online.
Next are letters. Same idea. Letters get sent to all men who have been online in the last seven days.
So yeah...for a lot of women who gave treated lit shyte by the typical Ukrainian man, getting flowers and gifts, even tolerating a visit to be taken to a nice restaurant or club, or what we consider nominal shopping spree is huge and unprecedented for them
I has a woman that I chatted with for three months. When I came to visit, her I interpreter pulled me aside and gave me the low down seeing I was serious. Thus woman that I had come to visit actually had a boyfriend.
My experience, for what it's worth.

It doesn't surprise me those who are most successful with Ukrainian women spend the most time in Ukraine.

Ya I agree, living here increases your chances, but I still say having as many possible ready to meet you when you get here should work. Maybe come 3 times, see 5 each time, and that should work unless your looks and or personality are just not acceptable to the ladys. About your question NA..My opinion, no it isn't even deception. The guy can say no. Of course a girl wants to go to the nice restaurant. So, the guy comes here, he ask's, would you like to go to dinner, girl, yes, guy, where, do ya think she's gonna say McDonalds ? hahaha,, Right ? Reality man..These guys have heard all the great stories, looked at millions of pictures but then there's reality.. BUMMER !! If a girl is single, ( boyfriends don't make her attached, those change, that's why that friend part is in there ) then why shouldn't she want to meet guys from wherever ? Why not ? She's smart for trying to increase her odd's right ? You wrote because it's expensive and eluded to that in every paragraph you wrote and from the girls standpoint, so what, it's not her call whether they come or not, even if she did want them to, and its not on her how much they spend. It's not her decision to go to expensive restaurants, buy her shoes etc etc.. That's the mans fault 150 percent, it's his money, his choice. They are not obligated to like/love because he spent the money to go 4-7000 miles to see her ! And she has no clue as to the value of money anyway right..Maybe $10,000 is a lot to some people and others it isn't. Anyway, she doesn't know how much he has, plus 9-10 times he offered..And he was the one contacting her multiple times feeding the dating agencys. Geez, talk a few times, tell her your going to Ukraine and you want to meet, then on to the next !! I learned that the hard way two times, counting on one girl when I got here. And the first one I took to the states all over the damm place. Went back and forth to see her 10 times. Finally when the time came I asked her to move to the states and she said ok, but your going to have to send my 25 YEAR OLD $1000 a month.. So that was the end of that girl but I don't feel used or abused or bitter or dumb. The ol girl wanted to take care of her kid at my expense, I said no goodbye. .Had a great time with her, but everything I spent was my decision. Next one I didn't like but it still cost me $3/4 grand..Next time I met 5 ! SO why are they on the international dating sites. Why not is a better question in my opinion..Hey if they get a pair of shoes out of the deal great. But they certainly are not obligated to anything..And hey, maybe she will get lucky as I did I guess.
