I can help ya a little. YES there are huge fee's to bring cars in. That's pretty much why you don't see them ! But they base it on engine size, year of car and value. A new car is cheaper overall because they skip the engine tax. So if you were thinking of importing a 10k 2.5 ltr Toyota Camry lets say, by the time it hits your doorstep its 15k +/- a few, plus shipping. So 20.. Do the math on a 25k new Camry and ya its cheaper, but still not reasonable enough to do so.. Basically they want to keep that business within Ukraine and have done a dam good job doing so.....I looked into it like 10 years ago, but maybe things have changed...

I don't know this to be a fact but a while ago I recall reading somewhere about an american who was becoming excited about the three year deadline(living as a permanentt resident) coming up as that is when he could transport his Merc from the US to Ukraine without incurring tariffs

I just read a article in the Kyiv Post that a Bill may pass parliament to lower excise tax 28X on the import of 1 Auto each year for a Ukraine citizen. The Auto must be made after 2010. An this Bill for what ever reason will expire Dec/2018.

So, if someone wants to ship in their Auto from the USA, the opportunity may be coming soon to do so!!

Hi guys-- I think one should read this bill in the Duma first. It stipulates that a one time auto transferral by a UKRAINIAN "citizen"--Also there is a time limit on this. I understand this is a "bill"-- Not yet passed. However it would be nice to go to USA - bring, or buy a four wheel drive, with massive ground clearance for Ukraines roads! I hope this bill passes. I think I would use it with my Son's name. I am merely a Ukrainian Permanent resident. take care -- Kherson Bill

Yes, I believe that would work. But of course legally the car would be hers and not yours. This doesn't work for me though. My wife is a russian national with a ukrainian permanent resident permit also.

Ya that would work Nate, but,but,but.. Then it is her's forever. Look, these girls marry us for all the right reasons ok, lets agree on that almost 100 percent. But you will learn after time, that anything in your name is your's and whats in her name is her's. Doesn't matter, car's, houses, rentals, whatever. Yes the Ukrainian/Russian girls vision of marriage is better than the girls elsewhere but it is more driven towards a better life, and that does mean material things. Love is a given and not in question.Just look at how they dress and the way the boys drive there shiny black cars. It's that Soviet mentality again. And im not saying it's terrible, just different than what we know. So what I'm stating here though is that if it goes into her name it is hers to sell or do whatever in a time of crisis.. Be careful of who's name you allow your American money to go into if you ever want to see it again..Again these girls are not what we are used to, and they do not work as a team with their husband. When I say I bought my wife a shop, that's what I did, literally. Now anything and everything she takes from that shop is her's to do as she please's, including the rent money she takes in now. First reaction to this is may be, that it isn't "the way it's supposed to be", but my friends it's the way it is. It's the way the u.s. is becoming with the equal pay for women etc. It's the way the judges handle divorce even more so ! I believe Extremevx could testify to this. His wife had a shop before they met and I can almost promise you he " joined the team" but it is her money, right Willie !! So be careful guys, these girls want a better life but the one's who choose to stay in their homeland, and the one's who have imported us, do want our money to make that better life...Image is everything ( Andre Agassi ) Better life to them is easy to figure out. It's basically who gets to travel more, who has the nicer car, the nicer house, who dresses better, and everything else material you can think of !! Don't kid yourselves, if you think for a second your going to marry one of these pretty girls just out of love, and not make her life better IN HER EYES, you should probably think again...

You got that right. Her shop, her money. Her car also, I don't have a say. Actually, I kind of like it that way. But when something needs fixed at the shop or on the car then it becomes temporarily mine. Lol. A ukrainian woman expects you to take care of her as if she's your little girl. You take care of all her needs. It doesn't matter if she has 1000 bucks in her purse, if you see that she is going to get her nails done it is expected that you notice this without her saying and you give her money to take care of her expenses. Yes, it doesn't seem fair. But these women want a real man and she expects you to be that and take care of her like a child. Kkmail is correct, they are not a part of a team. You are the man and she is the little girl that you take care of. If you want a little petite blond with a playboy body and dresses ton the nines everywhere she goes, takes care of her body for you and males you proud to have her on your arm. Then this is the price of admission. What you get is a playboy model that be loving and faithful to you. Isn't that what we really want guys? I think at the end of the day you will see the logic in this and agree.

Extreme & Ken, I also have experienced first hand some of what you both have spoke about in the " Female Slovic Mind set of marriage and money. I hope I am not being stupid here, but I honestly feel my situation is a little different in ways at times. I will try to explain a bit here!

I feel were both together own all our items such as our home and cars. My Lena has worked herself to death to get our home....what was my home before, plain Jane, into a Kick as pad today. Together we spend most both of our money on home items together. My wife regularly buys me things with her money, because I always buy for her with my money. Currently, we are together paying for her 2015 Honda Civic, we are going to have this car paid for in just 2 years. Last weekend my Lena wanted to give me her entire saving of $7000, to put down on a Dodge Ram 2500 4X4 truck. I said no to this, I want to pay off her car first, then look for me later on, I am currently hell bent on paying off all debt, maxing out my 401K for the next 8-9 years, so we might be able to retire at 56 1/2 and possibly come to Ukraine.

We are even currently refinancing our home to a shorter term loan, so it can be paid for at my retirement day!! We have both agreed I will make the payments, and Lena will help make "principle only payments" in order to pay it off quicker.

Maybe I'm stupid, but I feel we work very well together on all our financial plans. Nothing is just mine, nothing is just hers. All is our belonging..... we shall see how it goes!!

Hey Mr Great Nate !! So, if it's ok to ask, how long have you and your bride been married and together in the u,s, ? That must be an interesting story how you and she decided to go to the u.s. You say she's from Odessa right ? So i'll explain my point of view for myself and 8 out of 10 american men. For me i'd rather be in control of my $$.. I understand two minds is better than one, but if that second mind ever get's to pissed off you better run for the hill's !! I'm talkin about living in the u.s...! Case and point. I met a pretty blondie and one year later we married and had our daughter.. Unbelievable having an angel in my heart for the last 17 years ! It seems as though however she screws up, she always comes through, so that part of my marriage was the best.. Absolutely the best thing in my life.. Anyway after 4 short years, the x and I decided we didn't like each other that much and we'd be better off divorced. I remember telling her that and the 3rd time she took me up on it.. Did the custody battle, the whole thing. Came out 50/50..Here's my point and I guess why I like to control my own finances. After this 4 years I had to pay the the ol girl $2,000 per month alimony for two years, plus roughly half of what I made in those 4 years, plus $800 per mo. child support for the next 15 years..Ok, when we met she had a dog and that's it. But during those 4 years I built a pretty big house that sold for 635,000. I had invested MY MONEY, about 350,000 but she walked with 1/2 the profit. On top of that I was making about 100,000 working my regular job. It was my attorneys who said " you'd be better off retiring " !! I did that at 44 and thank them even today, 13 years later ! Furthermore: we all know the divorce rate in the u,s, is more than 50 percent..Well whats your guess that beautiful rate is for the pretty girls !! I'm saying about 80 ! I know several.. and I like waking up next to pretty girls, sorry !! So I didn't like those odds hence married a great girl in Ukraine, took her everywhere in the states she wanted to go, take her everywhere around the world she and I want to go now, but i'll be dammed if I will ever live with her in the u.s. and allow her to become Americanized ! And those bitches are so terrible that now when I go back there to hang out with my angel her Mom wants to marry me again !!! Hahahahaha.. Serious !! So I'm looking at this situation thinking, well, last go around she made about 100 grand a year marrying me plus got 800 frkkn dollars per mo for 20 years !! And now she wants me to throw her down again !! And guess why, ya its money, but her 800 per mo is done next year when my angel turns 18 hahahahahaha !!! Ol bitch !! Last time I was there she say's " well I know we would have fun together " !! So ya, I agree you have an exceptional situation, you were one of the lucky ones who cashed in on that 20 percent ! And i'll tell ya, I wish you nothing but the best trying to get outta there asap ! You wrote 9 years ! You and your Lena must be exceptionally patient people, to say the least. You write " possibly you may live in Ukraine " ? Also interesting, possibly ? I believe you and your's, could live anywhere in the world and be happy and I also believe you will retire after not more than 5 years !! I understand the u.s. is the best place to make money, but there are others.. Yes cost of living in Ukraine is 50 percent less than there overall, but you can still make money in Ukraine, and elsewhere..I don't know how you can even imagine 8/9 more years in the u.s. ! I guess with your Lena by your side, the odd's are with you ! I know I wish ya the best !!

Hello Ken, hope you and your family are doing very well.

I could type for hours on the questions you have asked, but I will try to just touch on them to answer your questions a bit. I have been married for 3 years now. We meet on a singles sight, I was on their for 8 months before I meet my wife. I was actually setting on the computer typing a letter to drop my information off the sight when I meet her.))) After talking with her twice, I never spoke to another again! We chated, emailed, Skyped for 6 months, then my trips started to Ukraine. Yes, she is from Odessa, her apartment is about 15 minutes from your home in Fontanka.

I fully 100% get your thoughts on control of the $$$. When one has had their ass burned just one time, as we both have had. One starts to play defense! Got it !! I tried to meet my wife up with some local Russian and Ukraine ladies so she could have a friend from home. WAS THAT A MISTAKE!! Both these ladies were players for men, my wife was pissed. She told me everything. Many of these ladies that come here to the states are all about Green Cards and Rich old men !! Some ladies are on some secret web site just to meet rich old men, they get cars, money, nice apartments, just for some play time. I know of one that got caught, she is out in the cold now. My wife wants almost no lady friends, only older ladies, she feels more comfortable with them. Younger, she don't trust at all !

I think what makes our relationship work so well, is all the hurt and pain from both our pasts. My wife's first marriage ended due to her husband cheating on her with her best friend. Then he stole all she had. SO !! we had a hell of a time building trust at first. I paid the price for all his mistakes, it took time for us. But as time goes by we get closer and closer.

Now, today, is the first time in my life I feel at peace inside. All because of her, my daughter, and our life together. I watch her help our daughter with school work 7 days a week. Our home is spot less. I eat great Ukraine food every night. She is my best friend! Oh and yes she is beautiful also. ))) I need nothing more. To be 100% honest, if I didn't trust her fully and believe in her and her intensions, she would be in Odessa today.

As far as retiring in just 5 years, I wish )) But I need 8 more to hit my 30 years of service and minimum age requirement. We want to travel to Hungry, Bulgaria, and CZ Republic to do some vacationing and recon for the future.

Yes, Ukraine is very possible for us, but how we feel about Ukraine has changed a bit over time. My brother in law passing away hurt us both a lot. I was so close to him, he was my best friend. I miss him dearly. He is not there, so my desire to come has dropped off just a bit for now. But, I make new friends every time I come. I still love it there a lot! Great people in Ukraine. But, With all that has happened in Ukraine over the last three years, my wife feels as an outcast today in her own country. That Ukraine Military ass hole at the Kiev airport on our last trip really up set her a lot. Just for her speaking Russian to him, he goes off on her. She wont let that incident go, I still hear about it !! We have friends and family that live in Louhansk. I wont even discuss what kind of pictures we were sent after some of the shelling there. It was sickening, unbelievable. I am a 48 year old man, I could not even look at the pic's but once....then deleted them off my computer. My wife saw the pictures once, and never has forgotten them. They left her upset, angry and bitter. So I hope the next 8 years of waiting till I retire, she will forgive and forget. And hopefully Ukraine can move forward to a better future where all their are equal. All are treated with respect.

As far as us staying in the USA, I doubt it, I hope not ! I cant put into words what all, and how much has changed here in the last 7 1/2 years. Today, Right is not wrong, Wrong is now right.....What was good is now considered bad....and what was once Bad is considered Good. White's are now Black.....Black's are now White's. Cops shot someone, they go to court or jail. Dirt bags shot a cop, they are a Hero !! Being straight is not normal.....being a freak is now cool. I wont even watch the news anymore. Cant take it !
So...... hopefully I get to travel back to Ukraine soon some day and visit family and friends. Maybe even go 4X4 in Fontanka 2,3,and 4. ))) Take care....hope to meet some day.
