Yup, scammers are in every country on the planet. That's just part of the territory when dealing with the opposite sex, not necessarily endemic to agencies and websites.

It seems to me that if you pay to send an email then that's just too much incentive for some shady dealings to go on. Some business owners would have a hard time turning down the opportunity to line their pockets with some easy cash from suckers, er, I mean customers.

Then there are agencies that charge a flat fee for "tours" but a quick youtube search turns up a ton of exposés one could only describe as scam or scam-adjacent.

I could list a million reasons why one should not even try those agencies. And yet, there are folks right here on this board who found their special lady there. So I'm left with more questions than answers.

I've lived in Ukr for about seven years now. Kissed a couple, but no girlfriend. Single mothers, liars, drunks, hookers, or otherwise undesirables. I'm kinda pissed, and thinking Chaiang Mai, Thailand. Girls on websites are all paid, and do NOT want to leave here, only get huge cash. You hear about exceptions. I should state most strongly want to live in US, but I do not consider that safe at the moment, for WASPs.

Do dating on line agencies work. YES, I meet my wife on Anastasiadate.com after being on their 9 months, the very day I was closing my profile. My Lena asked me to chat, and we started writing letters and off we went in our friendship!!

My experience about the women is this. There are some that are honest, kind and truthful trying to better their life wanting to meet an International man. Look at where they live and what they have to choose from. I can understand the ladies right !!

But, I would say 50%+ or more are scamers, or the people working at the agencies are the scammers, using a honest ladies profile to play the men !! Their are many ladies only wanting a free computer, free I phone, free cloths, free shoes, free dinner and wine, free USA Green Card or free $$$ sent via money gram every month from some dumb ass in Love with a picture....which might really be a #400 Lb. man named Igor!!! Never fall in Love with a picture, if they don't have a camera on their computer tell them to buy one, or just walk away. Odds are you are being played !! Never send $$$ to someone you have never meet face to face !!

Now !! all the fault is not with the ladies in Ukraine. Let's talk about "Stupid Men". If you really want to succeed stay within 12-15 years of your own age. Any more than that you deserve what you get when she don't show up at the Airport.

To many 45-65 year old men look at the 'Hot Pics" on these dating sights of 18-28 year old ladies and get a bad case of "BLUE BALLS" and fall in Love with pictures.

Your relationship really begins when you get off the airplane.....web to web is 99% only a friendship, at best!! Sorry, but true. If you want to be successful.......go there, be their, stay their!!

If I wanted a Ukraine lady and was retired or drawing some type of stable income. Go to Ukraine for 90 days, travel around city to city, mingle around the city you are staying in, as if you belong there, meet people. Every where I go in Odessa I meet beautiful kind ladies. Shopping, eating out, on the bus, on the train, walking the beach, the grocery store. they are Hot ladies every where. If you stay 90 days and are not successful, leave to Moldova 2 days, (renew your 90 stay on your passport) and come back for 90 more days!! Continue trying !!!

Nothing is better than being in Ukraine yourself!! Your $$$ is much better well spent being in Country. What one will spend on a dating sight, one could rent a apartment for 3 months and pay for a plane ticket !!

When I was last in Odessa I regularly walked past one of the offices of loveme dot com and it was a bit surprising to me that I usually saw women either entering or leaving their door. It can't be a coincidence that they were all going to the very place I've been avoiding all this time. Maybe some were scammers, but ALL of them? I dunno.

PS, I have a stable income and would prefer to stay in Ukraine. So that's not an issue for me. Plus I do agree that given all the things going on in 'Murika right now it feels like a really good time to be somewhere else.

Good post Nate.. Spot on.. My experience went like this. Went to Russia, met a girl, took her everywhere in the states she wanted to go, stayed with her about two years.. Great time's great girl and she wanted to move to the states and I was ready. At the last moment she said she wanted me to take care of her 25 year old daughter and send her $1000 a month.. DONE..Next girl, went to Odessa, didn't like her, although she was ready for anything, I was DONE..Next. started thinking, dam I'm 0-2 and spent a lot of money but I know it will happen and I cannot take the american girls...So I changed the odd's to my favor and went to Ukraine and met 5 ! Like NA67 I went around different city's, hung out with the girls and did meet my wife, now 10 years happily married..

About the lady's..NA is right again.. 15 years age difference max or your in fantasy land..And boys, be prepared to prove yourself. These ladies have been treated poorly, lied to, and cheated on all there life. These are only some of the reasons there are so many available. But be prepared. If you think you can baffle them with B.S. you have thought wrong and if you do find one you will NOT be a happy camper. You have not earned her respect and she will treat you as such. Guaranteed bitch and you deserve it. Yes, they want a better life, not lip service..My wife sided with the Ukrainians over me until I was able to prove myself to her and that took about 4 years of going back and forth from the states. For the one's who want new shoes new this new that and for you to buy her love, forget that girl and move on. But as I said, don't think your going to just pick out the prettiest thing there is and she is going to marry you.. And if you do that, and do make progress because of your promises, be prepared to be disrespected and downgraded at every turn..

I am back in Odessa now, and I will add my 2 kopeks worth to this debate. You have to understand that scamming foreign men is a huge industry in Ukraine. The Russian mafia created a myth that Russian/Ukrainian women were something unique and special and there were thousands of lonely old men that believed it. The mafia controls most of the marriage agencies and there are countless thousands of women that will pretend to like you for some extra cash. There are also innocent and naive girls that join the agencies and are coerced by the management to do things they would not normally do. It is very difficult to break away from these agencies once they get their hooks into a girl.

It wasn't until I lived here for a while and got away from the marriage agency crowd that I started to meet a different kind of woman. Now the women I hang around with won't even let my buy them a cup of coffee. They are that honest.

My advice to those seeking a wife would be to come here, live here and make some friends. Then, ask your friends to introduce you to some of their lady friends that might be willing to meet you. That is the only way you will find an honest woman here.

It seemed like the 'boyfriends" were monitoring the women's responses and if any got too close to the "punter"(me)....her profile mysteriously disappeared!?!?! furthermore the women have been deluged with promises so hope that projected income stream gains legs asap ....Bit of catch 22 in some cases...can't go until got a couple in the bag but as soon as you do, they evaporate for some odd reason,then back to drawing board...rinse repeat...

They are a huge corporation and are the proud owners of many agency's here. I could be wrong, but Anastasiaweb is one and Anastasiadate is another, two of the biggest players in the eastern hemisphere. None of these top players are owned by the mafia as ol Russo likes to think and if they were, more power to them. My final say on this topic and back to the subject, do the agencys work or not is that you have a 50/50 chance and if you play the game right, line up several, and then come here and meet them, you have increased the odds in your favor and that's how you get laid !!

I've lived in Nikolaev for a few years and watched how this very scummy industry has turned a good culture into a global inside joke.

From what I have seen with my own eyes during my visits to Ukraine, cities like Odessa and Kiev as well as many others have been tainted by the dating agencies/tours so many Western men travel on to meet a lady. Every time I travel to Odessa and Kiev I run into men (50-65 years old) from Great Britian, USA, Australia, and other countries, dating, shopping, having dinner, traveling with ladies 20-25 years old. I am pretty sure the younger Ukraine ladies have learned over the last 5 years or so lonely Western men are a good source for I-Phones, computers, free dinners, shopping, and money.

I cannot advise men enough to choose a lady with an age fairly close to your own.The older ladies in Ukraine lets say 35 and up are still old fashion USSR. Great ladies to have as a friend or wife. Choose wisely!!!

During my stay in Odessa I met a lady my age who owned 3 rental apartments (rented to foreign men). She was... how to put it kindly... damaged goods, perhaps too much emotional baggage or too many corpses left in her journey from owning nothing to owning 3 rental units.

But all the 20-somethings I met, acquaintances only, seemed to have a thousand different ways to extract cash from my wallet and gently and lovingly deposit it in theirs.

I am still searching for that elusive breed of woman who actually is what they all claim to be, someone looking for an honest and faithful man for a long term relationship/eventual marriage.

I have a little over a month till my return. Wiser, but sadly a bit more cynical this time around. Is HOPE a four letter word?

LuvSlov, good ladies are there in Ukraine. But you might need to travel to a smaller city or village to meet a lady 35-40 or older that has not played the dating game. It sad, and almost funny how 20-25 year old hot Ukraine ladies can school a wise older Western man. Remember Moldova and Belarus are good options also. My good friend just got back from Moldova last night, he had a great successful trip with his lady friend. I think the poor economic situation in Ukraine makes some ladies school Western men even more today than in the past. Truth is, many people are hurting in Ukraine with the Hryvnia so weak today !!

My comment about the 20-somethings was more about their attitude and recounting my experiences with a few of them. I'm old enough (or have thus far been lucky enough) to see the money scam coming so I've never actually been taken by anyone for any large sums, just chump change. It's a matter of integrity and mutual respect (or a lack thereof).

Maybe I just have old fashioned values.

On my previous trip to Odessa I wasted too much time because I was focused on other stuff, didn't even try to date or find a mate until shortly before I had to leave.

I think the next time I'll be more open to meeting people and spend less time on exercise and exploring the city.

It would be pretty cool to visit a bunch of different cities, see what/who I might find.

If I was single, I would go to Ukraine the months of May or June. Then stay on a 90 day visa. Hot temps = less cloths on the ladies))). Plus everyone is outside shopping and mingling around. A lot of outside cafe's their. Cold temps=a lot of cloths and everyone getting their azz inside!!! And yes, even the Southern port city of Odessa is cold in the Winter. Cities like Kiev and Lviv are very cold. The cold cuts like a Knife thru you to your bones!!!

Just like Deer and Elk hunting. Make a wise, logical, plan and stick to your plan!! But be willing to make necessary changes as needed!!

I don't think you can go wrong with any city one might choose.

007, I would not take anything said here to heart, I am sure all here want you to be happy and successful. If your lady is true and honest with you that's great. I bet many here, as I have, been played and lied to by some lady in Ukraine they were dating or chatting with. Reason being their are a lot of scammers in Ukraine. Even our friend Olga that helped me and my Lena, that worked for Anastasia said she quit here job due to all the scammers. Olga said Anastasia pushes the agencies to write fake letters for the ladies to make money off the letters. Many of the ladies on Anastasia don't even know they are on Anastasia web site. Because they signed up with someone else. Anastasia just bought their profile.

I was so tired of Anastasia, me and Lena turned down a reality TV show with them. I spent way to much money with them to meet my Lena. I could have flown to Ukraine 3 times for what I paid them to write letters and chat with my Lena. But in the end, I have been very happy. Hope you are also !!

I think there just looking out for you with there unabashed opinions ! I know I am. And most of em are pretty damm smart about it. Hey !! Dam Nate, your hot !! Spot on again !! And I like the rental biz too ! Hey but ya know I invited everyone for a bbq in high season and only a couple showed up...My Ukrainian friends did, about 15 or so and we had a good time but next year I'd like to do it bigger and better ! I found yellowtail, yummie ! !! I might even still have the rental next door for some of you but it is for sale. Hey any of you bastards got any money hahahahaha.. I wanna build a hotel !! Right here on the beach ! I'm telling you I got like 5 inquiry's every day during the summer months.. Lots and lots of people rent rooms out of there house's here and they get like 200 uah per night, per room..Do the math and you'll come up with about 200,000 per summer plus maybe 100,000 the other 9 months ! Something to do anyway !! Open a frkkn dating agency and have Russo run the dam thing, that'd be a treat !! lol Hook up them ho's walking to and from the beach !! lol One night stands in the hotel, or one hour, I don't care....lol

KK, how many sq. ft. is the home your selling, what's the asking price. Do you list on any of the International reality web sights?

I wish I did not have so many years left here at the DOD/Salt mine. But, if Hillary gets it for President I might consider running like hell sooner then later. 8 years of left wing rule is more than enough. Take care Ken!!

Hey Mr NA.... The place is like 700 - 800 ft.. And no I don't list it internationally. It is listed with the local peep's but it probably wont sell at the price it's listed at until next summer. It's about 10k to high @ 100k but of course I have a few reasons for that..#1 I like the rental biz, plus it gives George and I something to do. Anyway though, prices in Odesa are on the move up my friend..I don't know if you know but the new flats that are going up everywhere are like $10-15,000 per meter, AND you must totally finish it. The way they are sold includes only the walls ! No toilets, bathtubs, cabinets, window coverings, floor work, no nothing. Rule of thumb is that if you pay say 10k per meter, then it usually ends up to be another 10k per to finish it..Doing a good job, completely finishing it..Im selling this place fully finished so doing the math I'm underpriced..Plus you can bbq in the small yard and hang out outside !! I almost croaked in one of those flats for 5 years ! And it has a place to park a couple cars.. Anyway, the Ukrainians think they can build or furnish everything for about 50 percent of the "reality " cost and that's why there are so many 1/2 done houses around..Funny as hell they'll build a 16 thousand dollar fence first, then they get about 1/3 done building the house, and "money kaput" as they say, hahahaha.. I just laugh, they haven't a clue...I still like the dating agency at the Hotel though !!! hahaha, see ya...
