" Looks like my family will be relocating to Dubai in the near future, and I was hoping to make a few new friends before I have to leave my old ones. Also, I would appreciate any and all information on what to bring and what to leave here. We have two young daughters (both under 3.5 year) and was wondering about the availability of goods for them - disposable diapers, wipes, Disney videos, English books, preschools, etc..... Any advice is welcome. Are there better parts of town for the expats to live? How are the markets, we love fresh produce...here in the US, I miss the Malaysian markets for fruit and veggies. Thanks, Tamara "

" You''ll be able to get all kinds of fruits and veg here. There is a huge SE Asian and Indian/Pakistani population, so food from those regions is plentiful. You''ll also find all the familiar things your kids like, plus a few more exotic things to broaden their horizons. There are multi-national day schools and playgroups they can go to, so Dubai should be a good experience for them. As far as where to live goes-- most families seem to like villas, though the large high-rises with lots of amenities are popular too (I''m thinking of places like Al Attar Tower on Sheikh Zayed Road, which has pools, a play area, and a children''s room). Your best bet is to get here and look around, and talk to the people you''ll be working with to get their advice-- we expats are always full of advice! Good luck, and I hope you enjoy your time in Dubai. Zia "
