Hi I am moving to Abuh Dabhi in August, I would appreciate some feedback on my salary. In addition, I get benefits, and tickets home every year. Is this enough to live and save money?

Hi Chris, the salary you mention is enough to live on, and if you are careful then you can save as well. You dont mention what you are doing so cant comment on if it is a good one for your industry. If your company is supplying accommodaton (which is normal) then you should have no problems. As far as I am aware it is normal to have a return airfare every year and your company is responsible for repatriating you when you leave.

Your company needs to pay for all visa costs, do not listen to anyone that says you have to pay for medical and visa costs. Thats wrong although some companies get away with it. Always keep your passport and dont let the company hold onto it. If they require something like that, ask yourself why? Give them your labour card instead if they demand something.

Once you get your work and residence visa then you can buy a car etc and get an alcohol licence. Abu Dhabi is fairly quiet compared to Dubai where I am, but there is a good community down there and plenty going on. If you get bored, Dubai is 60 minutes north by road and is good for a weekend away if you want to go out and socialise.....a lot!!
