Hi Fellow Professionals
Iam a Telecom Consultant Engineer who have been trying to find Telecom work in UAE,GCC,Middle-Eastern countries for a while now but not having much luck. Can anyone offer me any sound unbiased advise on exactly where to look for. I have applied via numerous international agencies as well as local agencies and responded to their adverts but I did not even get a courtesy acknowledgement. I know for a fact there are a lot of scammers out there and so far I have avoided them. Your advice will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers M8's

Hi Kjahled,
There are several reasons a candidate gets rejected in the GCC and the Middle East, inspite of having substantial experience in their field / domain in another region / country. I recommend having your CV Evaluated (http://www.dubai-forever.com/resume-evaluation.html). Here is an exclusive Middle East Jobs Guide that will also help you to search (http://www.dubai-forever.com/support-files/step-by-step-guide-to-me-jobs.pdf)
Hope this helps!

Hi Kjahled,
The Resume Evaluation is free.
The other resource (link provided) is also free to use. There are a number of methods laid out clearly that you can use for free, to search for job opportunities for yourself.

Dear K
I hope by this time you have enough response and knowledge about the job maket in gulf. Anyways, if you are still looking for a job in gulf, I would like to share my experience in U.A.E. In the UAE most of the openings are in Dubai and Abu Dhabi and employers are getting hundreds of candidates who are already in the UAE so sometimes they are not that much interested on applicants from outside the country unless its a demanding position and shortage of professional.
If you are really thinking a career in UAE and not getting any respose from your home country; you have to visit the country on visit visa (for 60+30 days extendable) then hunt job there.
Below I am giving you few informations about companies and jobsites (may be you know them already)
1. DU Telecom (Govt entity) 2. Etisalat (Govt entity) 3. http://uae.dubizzle.com/jobs/ (most visited website for job locally) 4. http://gnads4u.com/jobs/-/UAE/-/Available ((most visited website for job locally)
Hope this info will help you to land you a job
All the best :)

Dear sahanueali
Thank you for responding to my post. I have tried a more direct approach on DU and Etisalat when they advertised for a job that matched my skills and experience but sadly they did now showed any interest at all even though I had the the right skills and experience for the post that they advertised.
I even wrote to the Head of HR. But sadly did not get a positive interest at all. I really don't know what they were looking for, perhaps Einstein? I have also tried dubizzle website but not yet had any interests generated by prospective Telecom Companies. As a last resort I will give it a try on http://gnads4u.com/jobs/-/UAE/-/Available] and see if it yeilds any results. Once again thanks for your suggestion.
Kind regards and best wishes.

You know what, there is a powerful word in the UAE jobmarket...WASTA (I think it's an Arabic word)...it means you should have a referee in such organization who can refer you to the appropriate level then only you can get a job. It's very common in UAE - lol. By the way, as I told you emplyers are getting hundreds of candidate locally so they dont look into CVs from outside country. Plan a visit visa to UAE and try your luck...All the best :)

Hi Sahanurali
How on earth do I get involved with WASTA? I mean I don't know any local Emarati Arabs who would WASTA my application. I have tried numerous time with a direct approach to CEO of Du and Etisalat and they referred my application to HR and that is as far as it goes before it gets lost mysteriously in their systems [polite way for them to ignore me in facour of locals who can't even do the job due to lack of experience] anyway can you suggest any GENUINE WASTA Peoples who would make referrals on my behalf. I have morethan thirty years of experience which I want to utilize for good use. Any ideas or suggestions please.
Thanks
Kjahled
