" Have your friends already looked at places in Northwest and North London like Willesden/Neasden, Queen''s Park or even Finchley, Golders Green? They probably provide the best tube links to Oxford Circus and they have big parks and good schools. One thing to consider is that if your friends are not looking at buying property, any rent money they save by going completely out of London''s zone system is going to be offset by the increase in commuting costs to zone 1, not to mention the time spent on trains and transfers. For instance, most Surrey trains will come into Waterloo, but it takes almost an extra half an hour to get from there to Oxford Circus. Most Essex trains will go to Liverpool Street, serving the City, therefore bear in mind the station will get very busy at peak times and you may have to wait to catch a connecting tube. "
