" Hi, My husband and I are being transferred to the UK in June and we are looking for an area to move to. We have discussed the London area, Glasgow, Edinburgh, and others. Commuting is not a huge problem as my husband will have a home office and will only go into London when necessary. We would like an affordable area close to a train or tube. Our three daughters are coming with us. The youngest is fourteen and will be finishing her schooling in the UK. . We will be placing her in a public school. We are looking for a house or flat suitable for five, we are thinking at least three bedrooms. We are looking for an affordable area --not too expensive--to settle in. We are looking at area through the net to get some basic ideas. Lea "

" Jim, Try the site www.isis.org.uk. If you have an idea of where you are going to live, you can look up the schools in the area. Hope this helps. Jane "

" Hi Lea, Is your husband''s company going to put you up somewhere to give you a chance to explore the area somewhat? Have you decided on the school for your daughter? That may determine where you might like to live. Have a look at this website: www.isis.org.uk/about/ukis.htm My husband moved to London over a year ago, and I came last August. Our youngest son, 17, is here with us. We now live in Godalming, Surrey, about 35 miles southwest of London. We are close to trains and my husband commutes, via train, to London. It''s about a 50 minute train ride. Godalming, the Surrey area, is absolutely beautiful. I love it here. It is convenient to London, shopping, the country, etc. Our son goes to Godalming College (college here is equivalent to the U.S. 11th & 12th grade). He walks up the hill to school. If you would like to email me directly, I can give you more information about the Surrey area, as well as the websites for estate agents (realtors). If you have more questions, I''d be more than happy to try to answer them. Cheers, Jane "
