My husband and I are moving to the UK in September 2009, and I need to select a moving company. Can anyone recommend a good one? We are taking our clothes, some small items of sentimental value, and our three cats - we are planning on traveling light! Thanks very much!

If you really are travelling light your best bet may be to check with the airline to see how much it costs for excess luggage. When we moved aside from the 2 pieces of checked luggage each which we were allowed, we brought a big box with a couple of other pieces of luggage inside and I think it cost 100USD.

Of course you know that there is a quarantine period for pets. There are numerous other posts in this forum which deal with moving your pets.

Hi Linda,

I can advise you on moving your pets from the US to the UK. Let me know if you need any assistance / info on vaccinations, quarantine policy, etc with regards to pets.

Linda,

The most important thing for your pets is to start the process early enough so they can avoid quarantine in the UK.

We have a document you can download which explains step-by-step what to do. You can find it here: http://www.petmovers.com/site/docs/petmoversengland.pdf

Let me know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Before to choosing a company, make sure that, their services reputable and reliable. Examine out that, they have a actual workplace and a working contact number along with an e-mail id for discussion about moving. http://www.manandvanhire.eu/man-and-van-barnes

You might consider shipping everything and making the trip with your cats. If you don't have much, it's not worth it to hire a moving company. I've used one of those boxes you pack and leave out that gets picked up before. That worked out pretty well.
