Hi, I'm wanting to stay in North Ireland for 6 months on a passport. What information would u have to show customs to be allowed tht long? Do I need a visa? If I need to show proof of funds to live on, how much is customary? Thanks for any information :)

Hello!

I too, am planning a move to Northern Ireland mid summer 2015; my son is in high school, and until he is out my boyfriend and I plan on me living in NI for 6 mos out of the year, and the other 6 mos here w/ my son ....

Hi Selena!

I am reaching out to you because I'm hopeful that 1) you can relate and 2) you actually might be able to help.

My boyfriend and I met in 1986 when he traveled to Virginia to train w/ a wrestling coach at my high school. We fell in love, but then he moved back ... and we fell out of touch ... fast forward 30 years and now we are back together - madly in love. We've been together as a couple since the summer of 2013; I've traveled to Northern Ireland where he;s from and lives, and he's traveled here.

He has younger elementary aged children, and my son is almost 15. Our plan is for me to live in NI for 6 moths of a year and here in VA for the other 6 mos while my son finishes high school.

Our main question is do I apply for a work VISA for my 6 month stays, and then in a few years time, go for the family / fiancee VISA?

My main concern is to do it "wrong" and "anger" the Immigration VISA Gods such that I am disallowed to move permanently to the UK with my then husband ....

Or do we go for the family VISA straight out of the gate and live as marrieds in separate countries for the next few years? I envision that as a potential tax nightmare???

I wish you luck!!!!
