I was exactly in the same situation when I moved to the Uk with my French Bulldog too. It was a nightmare trying to be honest, I have never been so stressed when I had to did a place to live with my doggie and now by experience believe me you won't have the choice to lie to the agencies by saying you don't have any pet. Try to find a place with a garden but still just don't say anyhing, that's what most of people who rent do here.
I was lucky to find a landlord in Brighton who accepted my dog because I paid 6 months of rent in advance. In London it was impossible, plus I was moving to a house share so even more difficult. Now I'm sharing a house with a garden and have my dog but didn't say it to the agency... I was really scared at first I didn't feel good doing this but I prefer to do this instead of losing my lovely dog.
