I am a single female 58 considering retiring to UR in about 2 yrs. I'm making my first exploratory visit for a week this April to MTV. Do you think I can live in UR safely on USD$900 a month including a small apt rent & health insurance?

Hi,

I moved here a year and a half ago and lived on US$ 800 per month. But since then an income tax was implemented causing inflation, and, as I am sure you´ve noticed, the dollar is dropping. Now I need US$ 1200 for the same lifestyle.

If you are a native speaker of English there are opportunities to teach English (most language schools provide training). And there is a Free Trade Zone with call centers that will hire native speakers who don´t have much Spanish. If you are bi-lingual the job field opens up a lot more.

If you have $900 per month coming in, and you work a few hours a day, you can live very well. Plus by working you are instantly involved with people who can get you involved in a social life.

Good luck!
