Hello Everyone!
We are Bonnie and John Mitchell from Indiana, USA. We will be arriving in Montevideo around the first of July. We are looking for a casita to rent year-round in the Solis area. We are homesteaders...we've been growing our own gardens, raising chickens and bees for about 5 years now, and we hope to find a casita and small piece of land where we can start a new garden there. We also want to make friends here at the expat forum and when we get there we will attend expat meetings. We feel the time is right to get out of the US. We are looking forward to meeting everyone!

Hola Carlitos! Thank you for the warm welcome. How long have you lived in uruguay? We would like to be in a fairly quiet location along the east coast, so we are looking at Solis. Have you ever been there?

I think you will find everywhere quiet if not closed at this time of year along much of the coast.
There are a couple of nice restaurants in Solis - Garni is one but they only open on the weekends except in summer.

solis is a great place but in the Summer can be too noisy, great beaches, very nice place. We´ve been here since 2009, but used to come here in summers before that for many years.

Thanks Morell, for the restaurant name. And Thanks Carlitos for the information. We will probably live on the coast for a year or so and then find a place further inland. We prefer the country life. :-) It seems like most expats live along the coast...or is that just the way it seems on the Internet?
