I did a search on this in these forums and found the responses so far-ranging on the scale as to be polar opposites: I found everything from "Quite enjoyable" to "bone chilling winters and suffocating summers." I know weather is very "personal" so I will try to narrow down my question. I've lived in a lot of places - from Alaska, to the entire west coast of the US, to Texas, and Maryland. I spent most of my childhood in Alaska, so chilly - not cold, for me, is 40s. I'll put on a light jacket or sweater at that point. Snow is for the birds - I don't want it, so it sounds like Uruguay would definitely hit that spot. On the other hand, I don't like it hot. Especially if it's humid hot (like Texas or Maryland). 90 and higher means I'm bad-tempered and want nothing to do with anything or anyone. I can handle a few days where I just won't receive visitors, ;o) especially if there's a breeze and/or the nights cool down enough to start the mornings off cooler, but if it's hot, humid, and stagnant for 3 months straight, I should probably start looking elsewhere. Our hope is to settle on the coast (though in a smaller town - Montevideo would be too big for us I think). Does the ocean down there have the effect of cooling off the area, or making it sticky and humid? We do plan on coming down, initially, just for 3 months to see if the area is for us, but I'd rather not drop 5K on plane tickets if the answers make it obvious that the weather just isn't going to work for us.
