a couple questions:
is there any safe, reasonably priced, long-term parking at MVD airport?
and
what are car insurance prices like?
for comprehensive?
i've seen the big difference in road tax paid by people - is this due to where the car is registered?
is road tax = license fee /registration in the states?
any gems for the soon to be car owner? were there any unpleasant surprises about car ownership that you experienced?
is car theft a big problem (say compared to an urban area in the states or UK)?
big appreciation for anything!!

This depends on make/mode/year... A client of mine pays for a Chevrolet Spark 12.000$/year and I pay for a 2012 Chevrolet s10 18.000$/year

Not so much anymore, before it was depending on where in the country they were registered, Montevideo paid more than for example Paysandu.

I am not from the states but I take it, it is.

Apart from the high prices pretty straight forward, it is easier to buy a new car rather than a used.
