Greetings to all ! We are happy family from India. I am worried about environmental changes or damages being done here I am trying to educate people about environmental issues. I have travelled to Uruguay on several occasions. I likeed the place and I don't like high rise buildings and greener. Other reason is I found the Gross Happiness Index is quite high here and damage to environment is less and people are not very much exploited and are down to earth anf friendly and beautiful people. Moreover the cow breed here is from India with A2 milk
protien . I do have business of import and export, and looking for opportunities for import to Uruguay at the same time exports from Uruguay.
My website is
http://www.eastlandgroup.com
http://mangla.diytrade.com
Any advise in moving to this place will be highly appropriated.

I can tell you we have Jersey cows here with A2 protein or a combination of A1 and A2. I find it a better grade of milk. And they are grass fed here. We would welcome you for all your knowledge of environmental issues. But we do have farmers using Round Up by Monsanto Mostly soya beans. Some corn.

There is a high import tariff of 60 percent. I never can understand why since tariffs are to protect local industry. So electronics are very expensive.

most of the tarifs and taxes are to feed our politicians here and mostly everywhere.

clothes , decor and trinkets are VERY popular with all age groups in Uruguay right now. Thats all i see the teens and 20 somethings dressed in. However, one of the big dept. stores, with branches even in my small town , 2 hours out from Montevideo, is Indian Trading company ( something that that ) but they dont sell food /spices/rugs. they pretty much are dishes, clothes, and jewellry. The big linen shop Tienda Montevideo , which also seems to have a shop on every street corner in MV, and at least one branch in every small town, sells alot of Indian rugs , drapes, and placemats. So, there is definately a demand for product, as long as you can afford the import fees, and dont mind going up "against the big boys". Somebody told me TaTa store ( probably the biggest chain of food and sundries stores in Uruguay ) was owned by Indians. I dont know if that is true, but when you read the labels, there are alot of imports from India in the stock.

Where in Uruguay will you be visiting/staying? I have a house that will become available in July, it is in Pinares Maldonado.
My long term tenants are leaving in July. If you are planning on staying 3 months I would recommend seeing different
towns. Maldonado is about 1 1/2 hour by tour bus from Montevideo. It was the first capital of Uruguay and is much smaller,
close to the ocean (Montevideo is on the river that ends in Punta del Este, about 1 mile from Maldonado.
If you would like more pics let me know. My place is in perfect condition. There is a local bus stop about 10 houses away.

I sent an email with pics of the property I have in Maldonado. the area is much nicer, cleaner, safer and more relaxed than anything near Montevideo. My place is in Pinares, a beautiful area approx. 4 blocks to the sea, Montevideo is on a river that runs to Punta del Este, the resort area of Uruguay. Maldonado is a much smaller version of Montevideo.
