I am an American attorney who will be moving to Uruguay with my family. Can someone please tell me the requirements to practice law in Uruguay and share a link to further information?

Interesting question. My desire to emigrate to Uruguay has been hastened by recent events here in the US and have no idea if any legal skills are transferrable down there.

It is a completely different legal system here so I would doubt it but perhaps someone else would know.

Having just bought a house in UY, getting wills in UY for UY assets and doing personal and administrative powers of attorney (because common law relationships are treated as being single), I would very much agree that it is indeed different in UY than Canada, which I would assume is similar to the US.
The extensive role of the escribano is what struck me the most.
I also believe that Uruguayans are by far less litigious than Americans.
