For those who live in Maldonado

Pick up your package of free seeds for your garden from the Intendencia of Maldonado. There are 3,000 packages to be given to residents who request seeds from November 14 while they last.

The seeds are composed of (and I won't translate so you can look it up yourself): lechuga, perejil, acelga, espinaca, remolacha, zanahoria, tomate, zapallo y zapallito.

The seeds can be requested from the following municipalities: Garzón y José Ignacio, Aiguá, Pan de Azúcar, Solís Grande, Piriápolis, Punta del Este, y San Carlos as well as community centers in San Francisco y Odizzio, and the Oficina del Plan de Huertas Familiares - located on the south side of the football field in front of the Intendencia.

As I recall (since I've been registered for a while and don't remember exactly), you will need your cedula, they take your address, and record you in their binder in case you come back next time.

Happy growing!

What a great idea!
If you grow more than you need, is there a way to share the surplus produce or to give it to people who need food (i.e. is there a food bank)??
