We contacted local shippers and asked them for estimates. The costs can vary widely depending on if you ship a 40 foot or a 20 foot container. If you go for door to door service meaning they pack everything and arrange to have the container delivered to your door here and unloaded or if you pack a container left at your house (Our company did not allow this). Also, do you want it insured or not, do you want to arrange the delivery at this end and pay for the costs here? They can be substantial. Then there is the guarantee here - do you put down the deposit - around $8,000 - $12,000 US or pay for an insurance for the deposit. ( This is for the amount of duty that would be charged on your goods if you do not become a permanent resident.)
I would think you will pay a minimum of around $5,000 US for the actual shipping of a 20 foot container from the US, but I am only making a wild guess.
