Hi lovely people!
Considering moving to Uruguay in the next year. Wondering if anyone can let me know what the climate is for Jewish people living in Uruguay. It looks like there is a good sized community there but wondering how the climate is in terms anti-semitism. Thanks!!

I know there was a bombing of a Jewish Center in Buenos Aires a year or so ago, but nothing here as far as I have heard. There are businesses in Montevideo owned and operated by Jews but very few. Everything and everyone in the states is being anti-ed except for white male evangelicals. They want to start with the gays and make it their Christian duty to discriminate against gays and make it legal. Their fundamentalist religion 'trumps' all other religions. Like Germany in the 1930s. Who is next? American Taliban in the states. I do not think you will see anything like it here.

I would say that there is no anti-Semitism in Uruguay and no racial nor discrimination problems in any way.
Movie about the Jewish neighborhood in Montevideo. The subtitles are in English. Youtube video, has four parts, this is part one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHADJF7FmNQ

the bombing of the jewish center in buenos aires was in 1994, over 85 people were killed, many children. It happened on july 18th. which is one of the reasons that every town in south america has a calle 18 de Julio, in solidarity.

There is a Jewish community that meets regularly in the Punta Del Este area. I know a nice Jewish woman that I could introduce you to if you come to Punta who is active in the group. I have not heard of any anti-Semitism but I can ask on your behalf if you would like.
