Coming into Montevideo from Medellin next week, laying over a few days en route to Buenos Aires. Any reader have a hotel they'd like to recommend to a Hilton-Marriott-IHG outlaw? I'm fond of quirky inns.

I would reco the Regency Rambla Design Apart Hotel in Carrasco. It is river front, very clean, has parking, walking distance to the casino and good restaurants. We were there off season and the rates were very reasonable. It is most definitely a taxi drive to downtown for sure but in a very nice location.
