reccomendations for veterinarian to clean dogs teeth?

One of our dogs has very dirty teeth, (plaque) and needs a thorough teeth cleaning. To do this requires general anesthesia. We are looking for a vet that does this and also uses an IV hook-up during the procedure, this to be able to administer life saving drugs fast if there is a problem during anesthesia. Does anyone have experience with this? A vet near Maldonado would be preferable, but a Montevideo vet would work too.

I haven't tried this clinic in Maldonado yet; but, I came across them when searching for a good vet for our Corgis when we make the final move.
Clinica Veterinaria Sienra
They have a facebook page but I can't post a link here.
No testimony; but, it may help.

I have a very large dog..too large to go under anesthetic unless it is an emergency.
My vet here in the US recommended raw carrots. Start slowly...just a slice as a treat.
He now has a whole washed raw carrot a day, which he loves. His teeth are clean and also his coat and nails are much healthier. His breath is sweet. ..he also gets a raw marrow bone to gnaw on.

NICE to see that that there are still some LUCID people who have not been totally brain-scrubbed by the "Pig"-Pharma Medical Racketeers ...

Unfortunately our 50 pounder has broken cartilage between the two sides of his lower jaw, from an unknown severe trauma in his previous life (according to our state-side vet). He is a rescue dog. Because of this broken jaw he does not like to chew more than that which is required to eat. This is why the plaque builds up so badly. Carrots and bones are good suggestions, but he simply wont chew on them.

Hi Vortice. We use La Pastora in Pubta Del Este. Fantastic vet & excellent doctors that are bilingual. We have used them for a multitude of services & give them the HIGHEST possible recommendation. We have used them for our 4 dogs & 4 other street dogs we helped over the past few years & always a positive experience. Our lab was neutered so they use anesthesia & I expect they have the life-saving IV you desire.

Wanderlust, La Pastora sounds like a great place to start as it sounds like they are good with anesthesia. We also need to get our rescue pup spayed as she is now 5 or 6 months old. Thank you for posting this information. Thank you to all who posted serious responses as well.

Yes, Thanx Wanderlustspirit. We'll talk to them too.

I thought I could not post a link here for the other vet we found in Maldonado; but, I guess I can. Again, no personal endorsement or experience with them. This is just for information.
