Hello,

I am planning to travel to Uzbekistan to study irrigation water management. I shall stay in a village near the Syr Darya River, in the Ferghana valley during the Summer of 2008.

I would appreciate some advice regarding the cost of living there (room rental, food, travel...).

Hi Blanka!

Uzbekistan is really good place for travel and to study irrigation water management, but time to stay here will be a little difficult, because it s really hot here at the summer time. Life here is not expansive, but of cause if you will go with travel group everything will coast much more then the real prices, and the prices it s changing every time, and I think the summer time will be the most expansive time for rental a village, the food is chipper here, and you can try so many Uzbekistan meal, if you like the meat I think you will enjoy to stay here, actually for me Uzbekistan food is fatty food. But I think it will be a wonderful trip, with sun and river, and it will be a great experience for you to see the different life, because Uzbek people they are Muslim, they are friendly and hospitality.
Good wishes !

Thank you for the quick response. I wonder how much room and board would cost per month if I stayed with a family (if that is allowed for a single women student).

Again, I will stay in a village, probably near Kokand.
