Hello all,
My name is Juan Freitez, and I am the director and producer of a documentary that aims to objectively analyze the modern history of Venezuela.
The issue of Venezuela, it’s leader, it’s people, and the role the country plays in global politics has recently drawn intense and fragmented opinions in the United States media as a result of the president, Hugo Chávez. My goal is to elevate Venezuela and its people above the love-him-or-hate-him focus on Chavez, and to paint a picture of the events that have transformed the country, culture, and political landscape over the past 50 years. In doing so, I hope people both in the United States and around the world will come to understand the country and its people as more than just Hugo Chávez, and have a more grounded idea of its current state and potential future.
