my name is Janet and my family is planning to relocate to Vietnam. we have been to Vietnam many times (involved in child relief work) and plan to move to Nha Trang. we have small children ages 4,5,5,6. i have lots of questions re: home rentals and rental rates, fitting in the community, children learning the language, availability of healthcare, banking, church, schooling...if any one would like to share their experience on any of these topics (or any other that you might think of) i would be so happy to hear from you. i am trying to learn as much as possible before making the big move. thanks! Janet

Dear Janet,
I`m sorry that I can not help you with all the questions that you have, but at least I can help you with your health insurance.

Let me first introduce myself. My name is Kai Poepplau and I myself have been an expatriate for the last 6 years. I`m German but have lived in the US since 1996 and just recently moved to Shanghai. Because of my background and my current situation I fully understand the importance of adequate health insurance and financial services for people living overseas. Therefore I`m aware of how important this issue is for everybody who considers taking an assignment overseas. I personally work for GBG/Tiecare international, an American company that provides insurance and financial services exclusively for expatriates. I`m sure that you have been approached before and that it all sounds the same, but it is no coincidence that we have been in the business for more than 2 decades and that we can proudly say that we have a 60% market share of all US schools overseas and thousands of corporate clients worldwide. In Shanghai for example we provide our service to the staff of the Shanghai American School, Concordia School, Changning International School, Yew Chung International School, Hewitt associates, GE china, as well as numerous individual clients. We believe that in order to attract qualified employees an employer must be able to provide excellent coverage and benefits at a competitive price. Or if the company does not provide coverage you should be at least aware of what options are out there. Since we are the only company that has local offices worldwide, we are able to claim that we have more experience than anybody else and that our customer service is only a call away. If you would like some further information in regards of what we do, who we are, and what our coverage consists of please let me know so I can provide you with the appropriate material. Since comparison should be in your interest I hope to get the chance to compare our products and services with your existing coverage. I`m looking forward to hear from you, until then my best regards.

Sincerely Yours

Kai Poepplau

Dear Janet:
I am moving to Vietnam this coming June for a job opportunity. I have been doing lots of research on the same subjects, and I found it extremely difficult to have accurate answers. My advice is that you should find contact in NhaTrang, either a native or an expat, who has real knowledge of the area. Besides, you may want to postpone most major decisions until you actually reside there.
hope that helps :)
