Please note This is not a bit of mischief! .I,m being asked by folk in an outlying town if I can help with the removal of a troublesome spirit that’s haunted them for many years. The spirit is clad in a uniform showing insignia suggesting para troop, an African American. Ive got to give these folk an ear, they believe strongly in such stuff, im open to the possibility of an unrecoverd body. I appreciate that a ghost hunt is not gonna happen, but have spoken to the folk and asked that they gather any information that they have that might indicate that there is in fact an unrecovered mia in the area. Got a somewhat garbled story that dogtags had been found and passed on to nva , and that graves had been disturbed but cant make sense of the details. I,ll keep at it. Is there some way that I can check if there are in fact mia,s in a particular area? What agencies in US / Vietnam should I contact should I find some sound evidence of unrecovered remains.

How about this guy, in 2013.
A Canadian documentarian says in a new film that an elderly man he found living in a remote Vietnamese village is former U.S. Army Green Beret Sgt. John Hartley Robertson, who was presumed dead 44 years ago. According to The Independent, filmmaker Michael Jorgensen claims that the man found in a village in South Vietnam can’t remember the English language or the names of his wife and children, but that he is the U.S. veteran whose helicopter was shot down in 1968.

oops I didn't read the rest of that story, UPDATE: The man claiming to be John Hartley Robertson has been exposed as a fraud. According to the Independent, the impostor’s story was “shattered” Wednesday, when a 2009 memo surfaced from the Defense Prisoner of War Missing Personnel Office saying “that the found man was in fact a fraudster who the US government performed DNA tests on 20 years ago and whose story had been fully debunked as an attempt to exploit Vietnam’s Missing in Action and Prisoner of War groups and claim military back-pay.” Even his sister believed it was him??? But she was 80 yrs old!!!!

You too made the mistake of not reading everything. Although I didn't see any mention of him being a VN in my article, thanks for the info.

It is not a simple process. In all instances of MIA in Vietnam you are advised as I have been, to contact the US embassy in Hanoi vietnam.usembassy.gov They have access to an investigation team, who work in conjunction with the Vietnamese Govt who will check it out. The more information you can give them like GPS location, dates from villagers, regarding the graves and any hard evidence will help greatly. There is no way an individual can investigate it.

What you should do is call the US Embassy in Hanoi, and tell them you may have local information regarding a possible MIA in the Nha Trang area. They will put you in touch with the right officials in the Embassy.
