Can USA person get residency easily in Vietnam,or, is it really difficult? How is medical, and, can we get senior care thru social security in the country??

Simple answer is no, not unless your married to Vn citizen, even then there are hassles the only option is to keep renewing your 3 month multi entry visa, I understand you can do this a max of 3 times then you do what is called a border run. Other forums have more info. As far as investing in Vn, that entirely up to you the law changes frequently so it would be safer to just rent you can pick up nice digs for around $ 3600/ year or city digs for $300 / mnth up, then you can move on if desired check out -blog visa renewal prices have sky rocketed since Jan 1 but are starting to stabilize last year they were $10 each time now its around $285 the agents got greedy , now tourism numbers have dropped by around 36% the industry is in panic mode so much for quick cnatch and grab. just to follow up, there is no social security as you may know it,the old folks and down and out ( bui doi ) have to sell lottery tickets in the street, from the proceeds they are are given an allowance to exist on, insurance for medical is up to yo, check around on the forums as to where the better service providers are , I was in Dal at and busted open my eyebrow requiring 6 stitches I was attended by 4 nurses and the dr it all cost me $5 all services are on par the best hospital in Saigon is in district 7 private health ins is very expensive and , Personally, I would rather spend the money locally, just make sure you have the cash in reserve for an emergency evac
