Re: living in Nha Trang
Do you have specific questions or just want a take on living here? A good through the forums search on Nha Trang will help, too. I have lived here in Nha Trang 6 years, but had previously stayed in 3 month bits over 13 years. You will find Nga Trang developing very quickly, I think not always for the best, as it has become far too congested for my preference. But it is still reasonably priced, has good seafood and has improving medical care. The younger expat folk here are generally long-term, educated and enjoy a varied social life. Or so I observe and so they tell me. The older set are couples, singles are both men and women, and usually well-traveled, educated and interesting. There has been an almost explosive growth in Chinese visitors very recently. Prior to that flood, there had been a dramatic influx of Russian visitors, but that seems to have slowed a bit, though younger East European visitors often come here to work. I find these young people alive, bright and charming. It is easy to get around here by bus, bike or moto. There is a significant criminal element here, with a serious hard drug problem in some neighborhoods which one becomes more aware of as a resident. The typical issues of many tourist areas...purse snatching and late night robberies are a common conversation topic Restaurants are many and varied, with a broad choice of cuisines. Any if this help? Anyone here on the forum can advise you of a preferred restaurant , bar, music scene, gym, and so on. The more specific your query, the better.
