Can you buy Health Insurance without resident visa or do you have to wait until you get like a permanent status? Thank You.

First, Nicaragua has public health care for anyone in the country including visitors. But... most North Americans would not be happy with the facilities though it is effective. You can always buy international health care but that has nothing to do with Nicaragua. I assume you are referring to the Pellas Hospital plans which are actually discount plans. Most expats are quite happy with the extremely cheap health care available to them by simply going to the Pellas Hospital for your health care needs. The discount plan simply heavily discounts further the low costs. My wife and I joined but we did so as much just to ensure we were on record than to save money.
So to answer your question, you do not have to be a resident.
Darrell

OK, if I wanted to have a Colonoscopy in the good hospital, would you know how much that would cost and would you have any problem having it done there? Thanks, Paul.
