Hello Expats, My Husband and I have been researching countries in Central America to retire. Nicaraqua is at the top of our list and are planning a trip in 2 to 3 months. We plan to visit Granada, Leon and San Juan del Sur and would appreciate any information from expats living in those areas. Thx, Garry and Evelyn

Thank-you for your reply, I would like to know more information about San Juan del Sur. How are the beaches? We live in Florida and have enjoyed the many beaches along the east and west coast especially the more natural less traveled beaches. Have you considered moving to SJDS and if so what do you like most about it? Also interested in what you didn't like. Any info regarding safety, favorite spots, places to stay, costs, and weather temps would be helpful. Any information you think would be useful would be appreciated..

Has anyone mentioned that the beach's in SJDS are contaminated and the locals do not use them? We were there last year and the local told us that the sewer runs right into the water. It is nice to look at but they drive an hour away to swim in the ocean. Just wanted to make sure you were aware. We have chosen Pucon, Chile to live in after exploring 5 countries last year in Central and S. America.

Actually, dumping sewage seems to be a problem in other parts of CA such as Costa Rica.

My wife and I have been living in Granada for six years and enjoy it immensely. You need to visit Nicaragua yourself to truly see what it is like. I have a website at www.nicaragua-guide.com that provides quite a bit of information.
Also , we have many posts on this website about Nicaragua.
