I am presently getting everything together for my move to Nica and I want to apply as a pensianado. I am wondering if I bring everything with me to do so am I going to be on a tourist visa or ? Is it possible to get the pensianado before I leave here or do I have to wait till I get there? Can I come as a tourist and stay and then apply as soon as I arrive ? sorry for so many questions

You come to Nicaragua and bring your papers with you. Once you are in the country you have thirty days to present your paperwork to INTUR.. I would think you would need to be in country while the process is going on. I would bring nothing but clothes and maybe minor kitchen appliances and personal items. You are not covered or protected under the tax law for retirees until you are an actual resident. If they wish, they can and will tax you on anything else you bring as big ticket items. If you are driving, when you cross into Nicaragua take note that your visa is good for 90 days but your vehicle permit is good only for thirty. It is planned that way to get you to pay fines and sucked into paying tax on the vehicle if you over stay the permit. Get a reputable lawyer to assist you on your paperwork. Get a contract set price and never give more than 50% up front. Check with other expats to see what lawyer they used. Don't get in the trap, " I have a friend that is a lawyer and he is much cheaper" you will lose.

Yes INTUR is in Managua. If you get a good immigration lawyer, he will do all the foot work for you. There is a guy Paul Tiffer on this site that is honest and works fast. You get a package deal. It includes translation also.
