Does anyone know what these reports are to contain ? testing for diseases etc ? I am moving to Estelli in mid Sept. and hope to have all my ducks in a row before hand.

We just went to our family dr. and he wrote out a statement that we were in good health and no STDs. Evidently it was good enough because we have our residency.

Congratulations! Now all you need is two years as a resident, in order to apply for citizenship and stop paying double taxes.

Oh!, you are still on here. I thought maybe you had been deported for being too over qualified to live in a poor little country such as Nicaragua. I don't pay taxes in Nicaragua because I don't have to. I am retired here any and all monies from the United States are tax free. The money that I have in offshore banking is either in a trust for my grandkids or taxes have been paid. You can apply for citizenship after 4 years in Nicaragua regardless if you are a resident or not. The government is inviting residents to apply for citizenship upon renewal of their Cedula.. 2 years if you are married to a Nicaragua citizen. Ley # 149, Ley de Nationalidad. It will explain to you the requirements for obtaining citizenship. It seems you being a lawyer here should have known this. The question is would you loose your tax exempt status? You are a little off on your statements and knowledge of Nicaragua law and you are a lawyer? Confirms what I have been saying CHECK LAWYERS OUT VERY CLOSESLY BEFORE OBTAINING ONE IN NICARAGUA.

Thank you everyone, I am hoping for a pensionado thing but as far as health goes I have COPD but otherwise I am in fine health. And Magicjack I believe it was one of your posts that helped me decide on Estelli and after a few months of looking at information on the town and the weather and posted photos it seems idyllic and perfect for me, thank you

You will need a notarized copy of a letter form a Dr. stating you health status. Ours was simply a statement saying we were in good health and had no STDs.
You will need a notarized copy of a LOCAL police check. You will need a certified copy of your birth certificate. You will need a letter from SS stating you are receiving SS and the monthly amount. If you are receiving more than $ 650 per month ( I am assuming you are single) it will qualify you for residency on the money part. If not add $ 100 dollars to qualify for each additional dependent. Certified copy of Marriage certificate if married and bringing a spouse.
Get all this done just before you leave the USA. Apply when you first get here. If you use Linda's facilitator she will do the leg work for you on 90%. Have about ten copies of each plus original. If you give them your original birth certificate they will keep it. Go to vital statistics and they will give you a certified copy. Just a copy of the original will not get it. It is a big hassle to get it back. Also have copies made of your passport . Picture page and page with your visa for entry into Nicaragua.
There is a lady on this site named Linda. A very nice lady. She can give you information on who she used to obtain her residency Her screen name is 2Bearsandme. It is much easier now than two or three years ago. Check, check and double check to insure everything is in order. Things like police reports can not be obtained here and it could mean another trip back to the USA.

It is a good place to live. In March, we are moving farther into the Mountains to a place called Quilali. $ 13000 residents but way off the beaten path. Very close to the rivers that I work my gold dredge on.

I got mine from Blue Cross Blue Shield and it was about 2 sentences that said I was in good physical and mental health. That was it and it was accepted.

Majicjack, you are such a ray of sunshine. You remind me of a witch doctor that I met at the Amazon river in the border of Venezuela and Brazil. He always felt threatened when I showed him the real reasons why his potions worked. Don´t feel threatened by anyone that knows more than you. Ignorance is not a crime, we are all ignorant about something. It is only lack of information, therefore, I will forgive your ignorance. Have a nice day!

I believe your witch doctor story is like most anything else you post on here. Pure Bullsh-t. It is very hard for me to conceive that you are capable of showing anyone anything. It is very difficult to show someone else the light when you yourself are in the dark. I believe it was yours and not my ignorance that a supposedly top rate lawyer does not know a simple law or how to research the law. It makes no difference. Most of the people I correspond with on this site think you are a lonely drawn up little man that lives an a fantasy world of your on making. I have worked in Venezuela. Can you be more specific on your location. Unless there has been a very big change, the Amazon does not border with Venezuela and Brazil. I am really beginning to not believe some of the crap you post on here. Do you have someone watch over you during the day or do they actually turn you loose on your own? Ignorance is not a crime but it is of very poor taste when you profess to be trying to help someone and don't have a clue as to what you talking about or give information that could cause problems for people making decisions on information that someone gave them that was wrong or bad information. I am overwhelmed by your capacity to forgive. The time on your post says 11:43 PM Way past your bed time little man. Have someone tuck you in and nite nite

Majicjack, for your very limited amount of information, let me educate you. El Rio Orinoco or the Orinoco River, flows into the Amazon river in the south end of Ciudad Bolivar, you can look it up in the map. You really show your ignorance by talking before doing your research. I grew up in Caracas, and you don´t have to be married to receive your citizenship in two years, every resident has the right to apply after two years, if they so desire. You had to work in Venezuela? Doing what? In the oil fields? perhaps Bachaquero? Oh, before I forget, the Amazon is not only a river it is a zone or did they ever teach you that in grammar school, since all grammar school kids know that. Did you fail finger painting also? You are a funny character. I can´t wait to meet you, so that we both can have a good laugh. Me laughing at you and you laughing at yourself.

Wagsa, you are loosing it. We see it a little more and more every time you post on here. The Orinoco River does not flow into the Amazon. All of the Orinoco River is in Venezuela except for a small section on the Venezuela- Colombia border. Closer to the coast of Venezuela It separates into several forks and flows into the Atlantic Ocean The Orinoco River Basin has extremely heavy crude. It is pipelined to Puerto La Cruz. Exxon-Mobil, Phillips, Conoco One Spanish Co and One Italian Co. were building very large refineries in order to ship finish products out of Venezuela. I Worked for Honeywell Industrial Automation and Control managing the design and implementation of controlling Instrumentation for Conoco. Your Buddy Hugo nationalized all these companies except for the Spanish. Exxon-Mobil, Conoco and Phillips cut their losses and pulled out. Now, In you statement you specifically stated you and your witch doctor met up on the Amazon River on the border of Venezuela and Brazil. This is totally impossible. It is in print. This is what you wrote.
Ley# 149 Ley De Nationalidad Article 7 & 8.
Article 7 first. The law states that if you are married to a nicaraguense you can apply for citizenship after having been a legal resident for two years Article 8, If you are not married to a Nicaraguense then you must wait for a period of four years after you have obtained legal residency
You can apply one day after you get here but it aint going to happen. Who knows maybe you have the ability and capacity to write and change laws here as you see fit. If I had that ability I would be back in the USA doing what your pal Obama is doing.
For being raise in Venezuela, I believe you missed much more school than I did. Besides, Venezuela was one of the high spots in world history or geography in the USA. We had more important things to study. I hope you have learned something about Venezuela today. If the student failed to learn then the teacher failed to teach. BUT, you do have to take into consideration there are some real dumbasses out there also.

No. Encourage both to continue their dialogues. For those of us who have not been to Nicaragua but intend to make it our home they have been providing valuable information (as well as entertainment ) that we can digest and use before and after we get there. Since shyness is not one of eithers characteristics I doubt anyone could stop them anyway.

For someone so quick to criticize others, wagsa, you are remarkably inappropriate in your use of this forum. Please reserve this kind of response to private messages. It has absolutely nothing to do with either Nicaragua or the topic named in the subject heading, and is likely to deter those seeking useful answers to their questions from considering the forum as a useful resource.

Thank you.

I thougt that all communication was created with the intention of sharing ideas. If you can have fun while sharing ideas, why not? Majicjack probably is enjoying this verval volley ball, since it is all in fun and jest.
It is boring having to agree in everything you see or hear, just to please people. I am here to share written communications with all of those that want to. No one is obligated to answer. It could be simple to ignore majicjack, but it would not be fun, and I am sure he is enjoying sharing all of that he has read, in this year´s world almanac.

Wagsa,
You instigate this BS with your snide remarks and trying to impress the world with your intelligence. I am not the most intelligent person in the world but thanks to you I also can confirm the fact I am not the most stupid. You have put out information on here that is totally wrong. There are people on this site asking questions and seeking information on subjects that may change the rest of their lives or help them make a decision that could be life changing. I don't think they need to hear all of this BS but being the way I am I will not back down to an idiot. I would sincerely like to meet with you on a lonely country road and I can guarantee you we would not be discussing the weather. So in response your statement that I enjoy our little war, no I don't! I doubt if anyone else wants to read this crap also. Your statement that this site would be boring if you didn't have this going on. I don' think the people that seek answers on this site are trying to be boring and want real honest answers. However in response to some others that have made statements regarding this BS you have the option to read or not to read it. There is a delete button on most computers.
