I usually go to the Caribbean side of Mexico (Cancun, Riviera Maya). I love the weather there and the sea temperature. We are considering several countries to move to and Nicaragua came up as one of the possibiities. I am in western Canada and simply put we cannot longer take the winters which go from Nov to June in various degrees. Has anyone had any experience living in San Juan del Norte for example? Thanks in advance!

San Juan del Norte is very isolated. There is a website called the right side guide, http://therightside guide, I think, that has information about the Atlantic side. You can probably find it on google.
The Nicaragua Caribbean coast is not at all like Cancun or the Mexican Riveria, ie, no Walmart, no Sanborns, and not many tourist facilities. The weather is very different from Cancun. Our friends who travelled up the coast last year by open boat had a hard time finding a grocery store or any place that sold food. That is why some people like it. I think you should visit there before thinking about it. The right side guide will tell you how to get there.
If you like Cancun, you might try the Pacific side. Much more civilized.

So you better bring it, or better yet catch it or buy it live and go from there. Now that's the way to live!

Looking at maps can be dangerous! Or, as a friend from Parker Arizona once explained it ``we are centrally located, right between L.A., Phoenix, and Las Vegas``.

I would add to that:
In Nicaragua you very often cannot get there,, from here.
Sometimes you plain cannot get there from anywhere!
