Hello all, I am new here and need some advice. Anybody know locals that build Bamboo homes? Anybody know in general what the building codes are? Not looking at having a home in congested area but quite areas. Any info you have or sites or anything you can point me to with this info would be great. Thanks Allan

Hello Allan , hope all is good, it all depends on where you are building , but overall you don't need permits and its your own codes. We are doing a self sustained development in Northern Nica, let me know if you are interested.

The only bamboo construction I've run in to are at the Barco de Oro hotel en Las Penitas. Yo might want to chat with them. There is another hotel in Miraflor with bamboo, but when I saw it it seemed moldy, so there are probably some tricks to the construction. I think it has to do with the curing.
Seem best for a windy cold area for the zancudos.

The bamboo just like lumber must be cured and treated properly before installation, the material will last yo forever , and the best thing about it is that its bug resistance. Its a economical way to go.

Thanks for the info. Already understand that part. I like the economical part. Trying to have fun and create homes for other expats that want to experience another country, but want a decent place. Still researching but hope it can be done. I think it can, but being married before I know how to start every statement with "I could be wrong but":)) Thanks Allan
