Looking for good reasonable builder/contractor in Granada. Project is part renovation and part new construction.

You owe it to humanity to document this experience. Get a GoPro camera or its equivalent and a headstrap for it, fasten the lens right between your eyes, and post the story to YouTube in serialized episodes. Monetize the hits with affiliate links, in this case most likely to Home Depot, bail bondsmen, lawyers and online ticketing agencies specializing in travel to countries without extradition treaties. This will at least help pay some of the construction costs. I'm already looking forward to watching. You'll likely amass karma in near-nirvanic quantities, particularly if you make lots of painful mistakes your viewers can avoid themselves.

You will find an extraordinary amount of opinions. I think you could connect better on the expats of Granada facebook page. Talk to as many people as you can, there is lots to learn.

Iguana I should have said that I have been in Nicaragua for 15 years. Have not done much in Granada for many years so looking to see what is out there for builders.
Trust me I could write a 12 book collection on functioning in Nicaragua. Ha Ha

If you haven't been to Granada for awhile be prepared for a shock. There is a big building boom going on. Construction is everywhere. It isn't the town it used to be. I would be careful and ask around. Buildings are going up very fast. We have watched a few and really wonder how long they will last. We have also heard about changes in the rules, again, ask around. Prices on work have gone up. We are very careful about getting quotes. We got a quote of $2400 for a simple paint job from one company and found another to do the same job for $150. Good luck.
