Visit to San Juan Del Sur

I will be visiting San Juan Del Sur in Jan. or Feb. 2016. I would like to stay in a hotel that is close to everything. Is there hotels in the $50 -$75US range in a safe and conveniently located area. My ability to walk more than a few blocks is somewhat limited. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Bob

Good news, Bob. There's a boatload of hotels in San Juan and your price range is higher than most charge. Plus it's a very small, safe town so most of the hotels are in a small, safe area. Bad news, Bob, none of them are chain hotels you might be familiar with and you have to choose sight unseen. My suggestion is book almost any of them online, but only for your first night. Check-in, and if you like it stay put but pay the walk-up rate after the first night (walk-up rate is usually cheaper than the online rate, since the online agency fee gets passed to you). If you don't like it, shop around. Check TripAdvisor. Brisas y Olas, an eight- or 10-room hotel owned by a young Nica couple, is cheaper than you specify ($20-25 per night, online), but it might suit many of your mobility problems. It's in the block with the hardware store, about a 250-foot walk to the beach and 50 feet from a taxi stand. But don't worry about room availability per se -- except for Christmas, Easter, and school vacations, you can pretty much always find paid shelter in San Juan.
