Hello! My partner and I are bike touring through Nicaragua. One of our bike boxes we stored has been stolen and we are in search of another before we leave for the states on January 16. As opposed to running around aimlessly in Managua, I'm just trying to get the word out to the community to see if any one happens to have a bike box or know of where I can get one! I would hate to have to leave a bike here:/ thank you so much!

If I were looking, I would start in the sports shop on the lower level of the Metrocentro center. We went in there looking for something which they didn't have, but they were very nice and found a place that had it.. If no one has a box, someone might be able to make you one.

Nicaragua's no bicycling hotspot. Most cases cost more than most bikes. I'd advise you to settle for whatever you can get. In 2014 a North American friend of mine in SJDS with an expensive bicycle put out his own feelers. It took months to find that box.

A reefer box, or two washer boxes and some heavy duty tape and you have one. Can pay the guy in a store to give you the box for 5 bucks. Take 30 minutes to make it. Use some of the ever packing styrofoam inside to keep it from getting banged up.
