There's so many Canadians in Nicaragua there's a place in San Juan del Sur on the Pacific Coast that sells poutine. Anyway, other than currency exchange, what applies in Nicaragua for Canadians is the same as what applies to, say, U.S. citizens. Those few forum posts in this vast archive that do not apply to you should be obvious, so just settle in and start scrolling wherever your interests may lead you.

Try the Nica facebook pages. About half the expats we know are Canadians and they are active on Facebook. The single biggest complaint we hear currently is about the exchange rate as the USD is the default currency in Nicalandia. They aren't shy about expressing themselves on that subject.

I only began research recently and did not know the US $ was supreme. Currency exchanges show Can$ = C$21.686, US$=$28.458 This would make it more inviting for living and working there.
