We are looking to move in about a year and a half. We will be visiting at least 2-3 times before.. We have two kids 8 and 9 and wonder about schools there. Local, private? Not sure where we will be living yet and schools will help us figure that out. English speaking would be nice, but not necessary. smaller is better. And if anyone homeschools in addition to local schools?

There are plenty of kids. A better place to connect is facebook. There are pages for all over the country plus a secret or whatever page for parents in SJDS, is my understanding.
