It's only helpful/useful if the answers to questions for specific facts...like the "Squatters" one which this is a result of...are reasonably accurate. The answer in question was dead wrong (not my opinion or judgement) but that of several other posters as well who have direct experience with that. And it was stated as an "absolute" fact with no qualification. That is something that can cause the original poster who wanted the info for an ongoing situation some real problems....big ones. The poster who gave the dead wrong information as well as the guy guy who is defending the right to post crap posts a lot of these type of replies. I am not talking about difference of opinion...like which is the best restaurant, etc......I am talking hard facts. It is beyond me why they do that...I assume just the need to feel important...whatever. If these forums are to be of any value then the users should police themselves when they see terrible info. If the idiots who feel the eed t post about stuff they know nothing about take issue with that, too bad. I am happy this has been drug out and I will continue to keep it going so new users can be aware of the crap on here that gets mixed in with a lot of useful information.

Some do and some don't. I guess I should just leave them to their own analysis.....trouble is once you see a big glitch in the facts it's hard to ignore it. I use forums like this a lot for help on several issues...building, off grid and some of the stuff that I get "advice" proves to be really troublesome later on if followed. What happens is someone give a misinformed answer and another picks it up and rebroadcasts that and then again ...and pretty soon it is a "fact". I believe we have a responsibility to call out those who constantly post bad stuff....its like any community. in real life that person would be known as a BS person and not listened to...on the web...we are the community.

Once again I agree with you . We should be here to try and help each other with good and accurate information.
If someone has an issue and cannot express themselves politely, then they should keep quiet or respond privately. i think it certainly does not show well for the ex-pat community.
We have not bought yet in Nica and are looking at a home and I truly value the good information i have got from a number of you.I try to ignore the glaring insults such as those in the last few days but it is difficult when they appear in my inbox. The net is great for a lot, but is also a vecilcle for those hiding behind it and who try and lash out when you are giving good sound advice.

Then they will see the need for extreme caution in believing in the info posted on here by some.....all they have to do is follow the thread back and see what this is originally about....and what prpcof's buddies are chattering about...which is not the issue at all. The issue is bad information given out of the blue by some on here that make a habit of doing that....not a differnce of opinion but hard info asked for by a poster who can be damages by the bad info that is spouted with such certainty. Prpcof and buddies have just made it into something else so they don't have to face up to being ignorant.
