Hello Everyone, Hope you had some nice Navidades and some Happy soon approaching New Year!!
I Need some help if you guys could please... Although my handle name is "4evernica" I'm a bit distant from Nicaragua since I live up North and have close to No relatives left in Nicaragua and that's the reason why I'm looking for some assistance from your expertise.
I'm planning a Visit to Managua for the Easter week. possibly arriving on the 14th of April. Plane ticket is taken care of but, need some suggestions on a Clean and resonably priced Hotel in the heart of Managua. I Checked out a few websites such as Expedia, Kayak, Hot wire but prices are pretty high. I looked at Hotel Intercontinental and it shows that it's around $230 to $250 US Dollars per night. I find that a bit ridiculous since I can find a Hotel Downtown New York, Miami, Toronto and Montreal for Cheaper than that. Am I Checking out the Wrong websites? What am I missing? I Would like a nice hotel with good service and Not something Run Down . I'm a bit flexible with location but hoping for something at least 4 stars. Thanks in advance.

TICA BUS terminals in San Salvador & MGA (Bolonia neighborhood, near Plaza Inter) have their own hotels. Not fancy, but $14 per night does not need to be very fancy. Happy New Year. Keep your eye on DJT. H2O 212F

Managua is part of the modern world now and you will find four star prices the same as anywhere else. Traffic is gridlock 24/7 and chains are everywhere. If you are looking for the old Central America, look elsewhere.

was recommended recently by someone online. I haven't seen it but it is located by Plaza Intur, a convenient location.
By the airport, http://www.hotelsone.com/managua-hotels-ni/hotel-camino-real-managua.html?as=g&aid=7814065718&dsti=132661&dstt=8&label=ggehoeu-ESRI-bh132661&akw=camino%20real%20managua&asrc=Search&ast=&gclid=Cj0KEQiA7qLDBRD9xJ7PscDCu5IBEiQAqo3BxDLRaOBvRoEKWY4MKyclHCtLUS7w5J6WqtLgRbr8FjYaAvab8P8HAQ is nicer digs than Hotel Mercedes
Managua has never been an easy location, a lot of extremes and little in the middle.
If they go "high season " rates everything will be tough, and then empty the next week

Just keep looking, but quit using whatever website told you the InterContinental was $200US+ a night. It's the beaches and resorts that are packed for semana santa, not Managua. I dislike the town so much I've gone out of my way for years to make sure I never have to stay there at all, so I have no particular place to recommend.

Why? Managua over Holy week,'Semana de Santo' is viitually shut down. much will be closed down as it is federal holiday and goods and services slowed as well . Check Encuentra24.com, it is the Craigs List for Nicragua. There are a couple nice downtown hotels who advertise for hospital stay hotels catered to American tourists that seem to be quite nice, safe and reasonable.

We are having a family reunion. Meaning, relatives are coming from various countries to get together. We are originally from Managua and are also taking advantage to visit some relatives that past and are buried there. Also would like to see the selevrations of " LA Sangre DE Cristo" For Easter.. We will go to the beach and such for perhaps the weekend but Won't be the main reason of the trip.

Hotel Camino Real on Carrera norte looks very nice as well. It's $99 per night plus tax which I believe is 20%. Have you guys heard anything good or bad about this hotel? Pictures on website look good, seems pretty modern. Not concern about food since I'm planning on eating out a lot. ;)

We stayed there once and ate lunch there another time. 300% mucho more better than Las Mercedes down the street Grub pricey but good, the day we stayed the had a captive gypsy cab that did airport runs for 2 bucks.

For sure. I Found a few for that rate, But, Unfortunately, Like the saying goes, " You get, What you paid for." Yeah, They're not very nice. No pool, Furniture and rooms very dated and no place to entertain a family. I'm willing to pay a bit more for a place like Hotel Camino Real. There's also the Hilton princess managua which is a bit more but with good reviews on trip advisor.
