Is there any good entertainment in Managua? I was there about 6 years ago and went to a couple of Clubs/ Discos and it was fun. Do not recall the names but it was at carretera Sur, If I'm not mistaken. One was connected to a Casino and also had another room for Karokee. I also heard of Zona Hipo, is that still open? And Can somebody please recommend some good restaurants to go for breakfast, lunch and dinner to avoid the high cost of Hotel Restaurant since I will be traveling there soon. Thank You soo much in advance. I Love this website, It is very informative for people that like to travel.

I guess people in Managua don't eat out or party too much. Eh? ;)

How`s the night life in New York or Miami?

It`s all over the place and varies much in quality like everything else.

Duuuh..comparing the night life in NY or Miami even as a reference to differences or being spread about is just plain dumb. The nightlife in MGA sucks big time in quality and quantity. I cannot think of a latin American capital worse......OK...maybe Paraguay. Locals go to the mall movies for a night out or the more adventurous to a whorehouse. That's 's about it. A few coolish places hidden away but for locals and you will not find them on a short trip

Let's put it this way: No one has written the song yet ...."How you gonna keep 'em down on the farm, after they've seen Managua."

Night life is not our department. I generally dislike mga and my wife hates and fears it, so when we are there we generally stay close to the hotel or nearby shopping centers.

Restaurants we know and would go to by choice are:
godoy by plaza Inter
Mcdonalds by plaza espana or metrocentro
pricemart
papa johns and others at galleria santo domingo
camino real by the airport.
food court at metrocentro has good choices but the accoustics can be bad. Food court at plaza inter is also ok.
Puerto allende has many choices. We were very happy with a 2 story Cuban restaurant there whose name I don`t remember.

Thanks atz, for your honest opinion.

And I agree with atz, that was a poor comparison elduende. ;)

I Partyied in Miami & New York before & It was epic.

I realize that Managua is a smaller City but, didn't think that Discos and Clubs were almost Nonexistent.... Like I mentioned on my first post. I did go to a nice club about 6 years ago that had a really nice set up and atmosphere and I'm just hopeful that is still open.

Thanks again for your help and imput.

Sorry Duende, I read your second post a bit late.

Very helpful and great choice of restaurants. I appreciated.

I was born in Managua so, I can't relate fearing the place cause really, that's all I know. Left when I was 12. Now, I just visit for a couple weeks.

I love visiting the different Departamentos/Cities. It brings back awesome memories of the time that I played in the national little league baseball team for Managua. Don Bosco had the other Managua team.

moon.com, virtualtourist.com, destination360.c0m, bestday.com, swooptheworld.com, nicaragua.com/nighlife. Plug in Managua/nighlife and get up to date reviews. In my 'cobwebbed nightlife experiences', my hotel and taxi guys mostly knew best.

I heard Hooters was going to open, or has opened, in MGA.

That is going to be worth the trip.
