Augieman,
Where are you?

I'm sure that there are a few lurkers like myself around that don;t normally have much to say. I'm in Somoto 12 miles from the border. No major incidents here, in fact, there was a parade several weeks ago with both red and black and blue and white flag barers marching together.

Fill me in! What posters? Internet down? Understand that Ortega does not want to leave or commit to early elections, as he stated to his followers yesterday at march. Waiting to see what happens this week after national strike and march in Managua. This is not fun.

We just skyped with our property Manager who lives in Managua and no problem. Also he emailed us just now and we got everything he sent..not certain where this is happening. read the La PRensa article that Ortega has reneged on his promise of early elections. Next move is anyone's guess!

Internet is working as well as usual. Other public utilities are up to Nic. rainy season standards.

No posters because Nic is no longer of interest to prospective expats. The ones here are laying low, generally speaking, to see what happens. Tourism is dead, it is just not worth the inconveniences.

People with outside incomes and valid passports are relatively unaffected by this crisis, other than the inconvenience for those who live near the tranques and street fighting. Those with Nica relatives are reliving the war stories from the last time.

I am watching the situation in Nicaragua because maybe the situation will get better in 6 months? If things improve enough I will reconsider Nicaragua as a place to live. What do you think?

That sums it up well, Mr.Elf
Reads the same in chontales.
I gotta tell you that I've had my fill of the "tranques. As always and has forever happened, what began as a people thing quickly was taken over by low life pieces of crap that get off on control and the opportunity to steal with impunity 'for the cause. Bull****.
As soon as my mother in law gets her passport we're outta here, bound for Panama.
This is exactly why I decided never to buy a house again, anywhere..

Someone in a forum wrote the electricity was out in Jinotepe, so there was no internet.

Power down 4 hours a couple days ago, down for a couple minutes every morning at 6.
This is normal in Esteli in the rainy season. The people running the utilities are not rocket scientists and when you give away half to the juice to poor people don't expect miracles.

Most utilities work as usual.
If you must go out do so during the day and avoid areas of conflict.
The larger stores seem to have plenty of items to sell.
Many street venders have opened stalls, mainly fruits and vegetables which they have grown, many good healthier buys.

RICKtee,
Where are You?

Friend of mine made it back from MGA to Estelì in two hours. Ten people on the express bus.

This weekend will tell story. I think US had understanding with Ortega re 2019, Sanctioning Albanisa treasurer will have far reaching consequences, no one who wants to stay IN US banking system won't be able to deal with him
I heard 40 percent of Nica oil is coming from US,,

STAY TUNED!
NO TERMINA HASTA que canta la gorda

Hey KWP, I'm in Masaya area, where are you?

KeyWestPirate
  7/10/2018 09:23 EST

I'm in Tucson at the moment,, waiting for things to quiet down

I have a farm in Madriz, about 50 mi so of Honduras. It's been very quiet. Other than some drunks deciding to build a tranque one Sunday by felling trees on our road to nowhere.,,nothing.

The area is strongly Sandi,, lot of fighting during the day..

One of trees fell on a builders head, killing him

My closest big town is Estelì
