I posted this question some time ago but No One responded so I will try again.
Does anyone know where to get or if Bio Identical Hormones are available anywhere in Ecuador? Quito? Cuenca? Guayaquil? Or if there is a physician or Naturopath that is available to provide these? Whisperer

Thank you for replying regarding the Bio Identicals.
I am crossing my fingers someone has found them in Ecuador otherwise I have no idea how I am going to keep getting them from my Dr. here in Canada. According to what I have been reading for months on this forum medication is a tough one in Ecuador. Bio Identicals are probably going to be almost unheard of in Ecuador, Trust me, they are amazing and a true life saver, there must be someone, a naturopath o Dr. that is familar with them and can fill a perscription to get them compounded at one of the pharmacys in Ecuador. As long as the Dr. knows something about them and can send the blood work away to be checked and can fill out the perscription and there is a pharmacy that knows how to do the compounding. otherwise I am wondering if it would even be possible to have one of the Doctors in Ecuador to colaborate with mine in Canada to approve shipping them directly to his Ecuadorian office without problems across the border. Once in his office I could pay him and pick them up. This is a thought I have of being able to work with both countrys to solve a problem, well, my problem and possibly other people with the same predicament, like yourself and your wife, plus the doctor in Ecuador benefits as well.

Utrogestan and Geslutin are both progesterone. Utrogestan says it's natural progesterone. Not sure if that would fall under the bioidentical umbrella. I tried them both and got nasty side effects that I don't get from the compounded stuff in Canada. If you want to try it you can just go to the pharmacy and ask for it, no need for a prescription. I would prick the gel cap and spread it on my skin.
Also if you have family or friends coming down, contact your Dr. and get a prescription sent to the pharmacy for them to pick up, and bring down.

Hi there G: Thank you for answering my e-mail. I don't think I am going to be trying anything else my body is way to sensitive to everything. The Bio Identicals seem to be perfect for me. Thank you to Susan Summers for her information. (spelt wrong) There must be some way, someone that has the answer as to how to receive them in Ecuador, nothing is impossible. What are you using now if you quit the stuff from the pharmacy?

Sounds good, in the meantime while you are in Ecuador you can search for a Dr. and pharmacy that compounds. Yay. Let me know how it's going.

Never heard of those - the ones I know are Bio Est - progest - DHEA and Cortef. I don't take the Cortef anymore just the other 3 and I love, love love them.

Interesting post. Thank you. I am a compounding pharmacist in the US and would like to sell my business and potentially move to Ecuador. At 42 I'm not ready to retire and would be interested to know if there is business potential for me to open a compounding pharmacy in Ecuador. If so, which cities would be best? Additionally, if you need something from my pharmacy, send me a private message.
Thanks in advance.

My uneducated guess is that there are arcane, bureaucratic laws and regulations you will need to learn about for that sort of business. You would likely need to be in Cuenca or Quito to make the compounding part go as there are already little farmacias on almost every block everywhere that sell all the regular OTC available stuff here. Again though, just guessing based on the limited time I have spent here and my exposure to medical system.

Not sure if there would be enough business for you at this time. The system here hasn't used bioidentical yet and not sure what else you would compound. You would have to educate the medical system here which would be a good thing but could take time.

raseik, I really do hope that you can move to EC and start a business as a compounding pharmacist! I, too, would really like to be able to use bio-identical hormones when I finally get down there. There must be an endocrinologist or 2 or 3 in Quito and / or Cuenca who knows about bio-identicals and can properly monitor the patients. Maybe those of us who know the value of hormones can educate others and create a market for them.

I would love to see you open a compounding pharmacy in Ecuador. There are good sized cities in several locations and I think you could almost pick the climate you prefer. Though the biggest cities are not on the beach, the tourists are. People who answered you to the negative seem that they have never been in a compounding pharmacy. It doesn't seem like they know you are a normal regular pharmacist AND you can compound special formulas! I'm all for ya!!! If you do open a business in Ecuador, please let me know where you are and I, for one, will buy my bio-identical hormones from you!!

Count me in. I plan to check with my pharmacist on the amount of bio-identicals I can take to Cuenca--is there an expiration date, etc. Will watch with great interest what the Wisdom of this Group produces. Thanks!

LadyMoon:
According to my compounding pharmacy there is an expiration date, I push the limit which is about 6 months - Snowbird time.

Hello, I am about to move to Cuenca. The only hesitation I have is that there is no bioidentical hormone source in Ecuador that I have found. I even asked a naturopath doctor in Cuenca and she'd never heard of a source. I would be happy to help you get to Ecuador and could put you in contact with some people who are knowledgeable about how you would be able to do business here. My email is globalmrkt@aol.com.

I was in need of progesterone and what they prescribed here caused me many problems. Now I get it from Canada, from a compounding pharmacy. The additives in the product they provided caused me no end of problems! Just have friends or family bring it down!

Thank you for this info. I won't have family or friends visiting, so that will not be an option. I will need to either receive it by mail or find a local source. I'm concerned that it won't make it through the mail since a couple of items seem to have disappeared in the mail already, and I have not heard of a local source.

Whisperer, I can't vouch for this person because I don't know him, but someone on here told me about a Biologic Dentist, Dr. Mario Sanchez, in Cuenca. I knew it was a long shot, but I figured Biologic Dentistry is something still fairly new in the states, so it's pretty progressive for EC. I asked him via email about the type of food and water I was hoping to find there, and he replied and said he could share some sources with me. So...maybe you could ask him about the bioidentical hormones, and he might know of a source. His email is cliobi@live.com.

There is a new Stem Cell Clinic opening in Quito, maybe they could lead to a source for the bio-identical hormones: -"Global Stem Cells Group has announced plans to inaugurate its new stem cell center in Quito, Ecuador with an inaugural conference and stem cell training event Feb. 24-March 6. The new facility will offer the latest stem cell therapies to treat a variety of patient needs.: http://www.stemcellsgroup.com/wp/2016/02/13/global-stem-cells-group-to-launch-new-clinical-site-in-quito-ecuador-with-an-inaugural-conference-and-stem-cell-training-event/

I was told by my compounding pharmacist in Canada, after he did research, that it would last for at least a year! I've used it for about a year and a half and still gotten the results I'd like! Just keep the prescription in a coo, dark place, but not refrigerated!!! and use as needed!

Dr. Mario Sanchez (biological dentist) is trying to understand what bioidentical hormones are so that maybe he can help us locate a source in Ecuador. I'll keep everyone posted as our communication proceeds.

Thank you for that info. I don't know if I could get my doctor to permit a year+ supply at once, but I can try that.

Hi Whisperer, I wasn't really looking for them, I just suggested a way that someone who asked about them might be able to get info about them...

My issue was getting the pharmacist to be willing to make a years worth of supply, not getting the Dr. to prescribe it. Once the pharmacist did his research he was willing.

DR. Jonathon Wright, at the Tahoma clinic in Kent WA. did a lot of the original research on bio identical hormone replacement and wrote several books on the subject. The books are available for a reasonable price on Amazon. The simple answer is that Bio identical hormones are identical to the natural hormones that you body produces. They will not cause the adverse side effects that the pharmaceutical fake hormones produce. The program properly used will help to keep you young and strong. DR. Wright recommends aiming at the 39 year old level. All the adverse side effects that have been reported were with the use of pharmacy substitutes for the real hormones. Most of the real stuff is derived from plants. Someone mentioned progesterone. The best source for that is yam root extract. It should be applied to the vagina membrane tissues.

I'd really like to know too. I've been on them for years. I can get them sent to me with a doctors presc but shipping to Ecuador seems difficult. I will go on trying though.
