And on a less quarrelsome note, my wife and I are travelling to Ecuador in February and March of this coming year (2018). This is an exploratory trip but we expect to spend most of March exploring the coastal areas as that is where we see ourselves most likely settling at some point. We will definitely want to check out the golf course at Montecristi while we are there and hoping someone can give us some information about the course.
I believe I read someone post that ex-pats can golf on Tuesdays and Fridays for $50, and that included cart rental. Is that still true? Are there clubs to rent, and do they have left-handed clubs to rent (my wife plays left-handed)? I know it is still more than ten months away but is there anyone here who might be interested in golfing with my wife and me when we are there? We would sure like to meet some ex-pats while we are down there.

I just played 3 weeks ago. There is an expat group that plays every Tues and Fri morning. It is $35, it includes cart and club rental if needed. Cab ride is $8 from Manta each way. I am not sure if they have a lefty set but I think they had 1. I will be moving in a month. In my container I am bringing about 6 lefty clubs (really old but my wife is a lefty too and she had a few clubs) so by the time you get down there worst comes to worst you can borrow the partial set. 3w/5/7/9/P/Putter.
When I am in Ecuador full time and play a round, (end of April) I will ask about the lefty clubs.
Looking forward to you coming down and playing hanging out with the group.

StevenLloyd, I got a chuckle out of your post. It almost sounds like you and your wife are going to travel, less quarrelsomely, and want to play some golf. Playing a round would be fun but the potential of having to endure a "quarrelsome time" with a new couple doesn't sound like fun. Hope you can take this comment as the joke it is meant to be. Eh

LOLOLOL – yes, joke taken, and I can see how that would be confusing. I had actually just finished reading another thread where there had been some bickering going on and was thinking of that. Not very clear I know. My bad. But I can assure my wife and I do our best not to quarrel too much while golfing with others, and we both really look forward to the opportunity to meet some ex-pats during our travels. I really do appreciate the responses here. Gracias.
